Media Amy Sedaris in Metropolitan Home

onMetropolitan Home has an amusing interview with Amy Sedaris, where she gives her opinions on holiday entertaining.
What makes a good guest?People who also entertain make great guests. A good guest shows up on time. A good guest doesn’t show up with cheap booze or something that is going to take the hostess out of circulation when guests arrive. A good guest doesn’t overdo it—he/she knows better than to crash on your couch, especially when people are on it. Good guests bring party enhancers—they don’t leave with them. A good guest does not bring uninvited escorts, especially not cops, or priests.
I love it that a magazine that is usually full of über-expensive furniture and hip modern houses has a photo of Sedaris in front of her fake fireplace with all her weird decorations and some sort of meat product.

A good guest is attractive, returns the favor, and leaves when you're finished with him.
Is it weird that I find her attractive?
no, she is incredibly attractive...
i love her sooooo much.
her home entertaining book is hilarious.
esp. love the fuckit bucket....
its so hard to believe that that's Jerri Blank.
i mean, i'd hit that.
I love that she's eating a giant box of taffy....
Taffy is cool. And very flexible.
that's fake meat, too. goes well with the fake fireplace.
She isn't eating fake meat my little X-Files vixen. She is eating something that is clearly marked as "Taffy".
Is taffy made out of meat?
She's really sexy. Damn.
I never said she was eating meat, ecce homo. The meat product is hanging on the fireplace. Try to keep up.
There was a hysterical interview a few years back where they asked Stephen Colbert and Paul Dinello how they made Amy so ugly for Strangers with Candy, and they said "we just turned the lights on." I think she punched them both in the shoulder.
extreme love *swoon*
The meat is, I believe, a Jamon Serrano - a leg of cured pork, hung sometimes in quantities of up to, say, 50 or so in bars in Spain.
The stand below is specialized for holding the leg at the proper angle to get long, thin slices a la prosciutto.

Amy Sedaris: Not so sexy and rather less so due to siblingness to David.
Back when I was young and single, I somehow got ahold of a bunch of plaster food that places like Sears used to use for appliance displays (to show how much food you could put in the fridge or oven)
Since my refrigerator usually contained nothing more than some spoiled milk and a few bottles of beer, I stocked it with the fake food, and put a huge plaster roast turkey and apple pie in my oven.
I could always tell if people were my kind of people by how they reacted to my fake food. I think Amy would be my kind of people.
I think having a surprisingly large apartment in the West Village counts as "uber-expensive" and "hip" last time I checked. And pretty much all the fireplaces in New York are fake.
She's a lovely hostess.
@13:
You mean it isn't a jamon Iberico? Are you going to tell me about the expulsion of Jews in 1497 and how the ham is a symbol of Christianity and limpieza de sangre in Iberian culture?
It's a fucking fake ham, for god's sake. Don't over-think it.
