Really? Not Even One?

posted by on November 26 at 14:23 PM

The Huffington Post’s Thomas B. Edsall recently asked 15 opinion leaders variations on the question, “Is John Edwards’ presidential campaign the test of progressive populism that Democratic activists have long awaited?”

Their answers are somewhat interesting; you can read them here. But the question the piece raises in my mind is this: Out of all the opinion leaders in the US, Edsall couldn’t find one who wasn’t a white man?

What's it matter what color they were? They were representing publications and organizations, not racial groups.

Are Teixera and/or Yglesias Latino?

Sorry -- I read that wrong. For some reason I thought they were all non-white, writing about political issues but avoiding the race one. My bad.

Yglesias sounds quite hispanic/latino/non-white.

@1 Are you saying it was a total coincidence that all were white men? Because if color and gender really don't matter, that would really be some outrageous coincidence.

I only trust white men to tell me the truth. Like President Bush, for example.

Reason #3476 to vote for Hillary. Her staff is the only one with any gender or ethnic diversity. The rest--even Obama--dominated by white men.
