Anybody Want a Nice Wicker Love Seat?

posted by on November 2 at 15:46 PM

As of five minutes ago this love seat was sitting by the dumpsters in the alley behind the Canterbury. (Behind the apartments between 15th and 16th on Capitol Hill at Mercer.) It’s in perfectly fine condition—appropriately and beautifully worn—and so far as I could tell didn’t stink of cat piss. There’s nothing wrong with it at all. Someone was probably moving today and decided they couldn’t take it with them. It would be a shame if it wound up in a landfill. Someone go and get it.

A white retan loveseat? That deserves to be insde the dumpster, not next to it.

Dan, what are you doing hanging out in the alley? Wait, we don't even want to know.

But I dumped a couple of things back there when I moved off Cap Hill a couple of years ago (desk and chair). That set of dumpsters seems to attract a lot of furniture.

Wicker grosses me out.

You know what grosses me out? Photos that are oriented wrong, and lazy photographers who can't even be bothered to rotate 90 CCW.

Fnarf, refresh. Dan's photo editor (moi) was in a meeting.

i believe that wicker chair has no other purpose for loitering that alley then prostitution.

As long as the wicker isn't worn inappropriately, it's all good with me.

Sell it on Craigslist and give the money to charity.

Grocery Outlet on MLK & Rainier has them brand new for less than $15, I believe. Wine bargains, too. Shh. Don't tell anyone.

Bed bugs.

They're reason you should never take wood, wicker or upholstered furniture that's been left out on the street.

Dan - Could you not have taken the wicker and put it on your porch and called the Starvation Army or some other non-profit to come pick it up? The wicker could certainly be put to use by someone. What a waste to leave it there, when the garbage truck will likely crush it while dumping the dumpster. The wicker has use; it should not be wasted. Our society will need to become thrifty, in view of the upcoming economic storm. Recycling involves more than newspaper and aluminum!

Well? Is the chair still there?

I would check but.... flights to Seattle from my abode will take an awfully long time and include passing over an awfull number of Seas & Oceans.

Please discuss the exact location where the chair is. Thanks.

yes - indeed - bed bugs

very big problem of late in Seattle apts.

of course my all time favorite shirt was salvaged from an alley in Paris where it had been used to wipe some ass - cleaned up nicely - VERY expensive label, like new - with a story - and recycled from the under belly of Paris to boot (perfect fit as well)

there - secrets come out on Slog

As of 12:30 on Saturday afternoon it is still there. It's a bit dusty, but still in as good shape as Dan described it. I tried taking it for myself but it wouldn't fit into my car. If anyone within reasonable distance wants it you will probably need a pickup truck.
