Life “A Consequence of Misuse of the Internet”

That’s how a New York judge has summed up this tragically effed-up mess, in which a 48-year-old man (who’d been posing as an 18-year-old Marine in online chat rooms) murdered his 22-year-old rival for the virtual affections of a middle-aged West Virginia mother posing online as an 18-year-old student.

CSI New York has already had a 2nd Life murder episode so I guess life is beginning to imitate virtual reality rather than art now.
Shit, it was panties. And probably her daughter's. The more I read about this, the worse the story gets.
Haven't people learned yet? Hot 18-year-olds are too busy getting drunk and getting plenty of ass out in the real world to be sitting around waiting to chat with you online.

Not a consequence of misusing the Internet. Originally this was "The Pina Colada Song"-style sitcom silliness - a middle-aged man and a middle-aged woman both lying about their ages and pretending to be a hot young thing in order to attract a hot young thing. "Tonight, they meet!"
No, murder is a consequence of someone choosing to commit murder. Why? Who knows? Maybe he's scared to go back to being himself instead of a hot young thing. Maybe he was pissed that the guy was actually young and he wasn't (kill all the youn'uns so the rest of us don't have to feel old! Wow, look at that logic!). Maybe he's just a murdering asshole.
But you don't kill people "because of the internet". You kill people because you decided to KILL SOMEONE.

I personally would have gone with "A Consequence of Misuse of A Series Of Tubes" as a headline. But that's just me.
