Remember, Huckabee's got one thing going for him: he's not a complete and total asshole. That really sets him apart from the rest of the pack.

yeah, but that's kind of the only thing he's got going for him. aside from the fact that he used to be really fat, and now, is not.

My parents are part of the religious right. A few months ago I asked them who they favored for the Republican candidate. I assumed of course that they would go for Brownback. Much to his chagrin, they had not heard of him and thought it was too early to pay attention.

Gitai @ 2,

Sorry Gitai, Huckabee is in fact a complete and total asshole; he's just going to be an evil fuck with a folksy grin and handshake instead of sneer, and his politics are extreme right.

He personally led Arkansas's crusade against marriage equality, domestic partnerships, adoption rights, and even the right for gay men and lesbians to be foster parents. He plays the hate card just as often as any of the Repubs.

I also strongly suspect he's going to end up the VP on the R ticket, since he can bridge the gap between the Country Club Republicans who are leaning Giuliani and the Jayzus Nuts who may be mollified temporarily by the fact that he's a Southern Baptist minister.

Maybe he just didn't like the 'Senator Bareback' comments.

I forgot, was he one of the seven dwarves who didn't believe in evolution, or just an insane America-hating Red Bushie?

Bygones. Maybe he can have a goodbye fruity martini with outgoing Hastert.

Will in Seattle @ 7,

You are correct. Huckabee is proudly anti-science and anti-sanity; he rejects the theory of evolution.

Don't underestimate him, though. He excels at smarming the political media, and that's all they care about.

Well, if we didn't have the MSM to choose our candidates for us before we voted, we wouldn't have GWB, now would we ...
