Looks like we better start keeping our ponies indoors too.
Pierce County Animal Control hopes to get to the bottom of a vicious pit bull attack involving a pony.The attacked happened at around one o’clock Saturday morning near the 39-hundred block of Gay Street East in Tacoma. Some nearby neighbors say they heard noises and went outside in time to see two pit bulls hanging off of a shetland pony. The two men clubbed the dogs with pool cues while a woman went for help.
So...should we be expecting a new column in the Stranger? You know, one dedicated to bringing us the latest in Pit Bull news...
NFL player Joey Porter's dogs killed a miniature horse outside Pittsburgh last year. So apparently, the canines-killing-an-equine thing isn't an isolated incident.
They will know us by our Pit Bulls...

Don't blame the pit bull for this one. Blame Peter Shaffer.
It does make a strong argument in favor of the right to bear pool cues.

Since this comes up so often AND I happen to live in a city with probably a 5:1 pitbull-to-human ratio - I've got an honest question:
What is the most effective way to handle a pit in a scenario like that? Say a dog has his jaws locked (not technically LOCKED, I know) on another animal or person, how do I get the thing off? Any tips?

Kick/hit the dog as hard as you can in the balls.
The imagery is powerful.
What if it doesn't have any balls?
#11 - Attacking dogs are most likely to be unfixed males. I've heard anecdotes about sticking your fist in a pitbull's ass if it gets its teeth around you, but if that's not true and effective (or possible?), you'd look pretty silly fisting a dog while during the last seconds of your life.
