My charges get filed somehow against Tucker. And I hope he gets to go to prison and have all the nasty things he has coming to him come to him.
Yeah, a prison rape is perfect for Tucker Carlson!
@1, The first word should be May, not My.
Sorry about that
This is the point that I hope doesn't get lost in the glee over the hypocrite Mr. Craig from Idaho.
What Mr. Craig allegedly did should not be a crime. The gay community has been been harassed for years through this type and style of so-called police work.
Wow, comedy indeed. Gay bashing is hilarious.
I like how Tucker is such a bad ass he needed help beating up a fag.
A box of fuckin' Altoids could kick Tucker's ass. Of course he needed help.
This is insane. It sounds like he's advocating homophobic violence on MSNBC. He's going to get away with it because he throws in the kids are in the bathroom thing, but in the story it sounds like he just whacked the guy's head against the stall out of homophobic fear. It sure would be interesting to hear the other side of that story.
And Gawker says that "comedy ensued"? On further thought, Gawker thinks jokes about beating up fags are comedy? Sad state of affairs this country is in.
what a mothertucker!
and the poor dumb fag that was hitting on carlson obviously needs some psychiatric help...i mean, why would ANYONE hit on Fucker Carlson? ya put a bow tie on a sack of shit, it's still a sack of shit...
did this incident occur before or after Fucker's ludicrously bad performance on 'Dancing with the Has-Beens/Never Weres'?
So, if Tucker hits on a woman and she's repulsed, she can get somebody to help her kick his ass and then watch him get carted off to jail?
@3 - I totally agree. While Craig is a shit for being a homophobic closet case, this sort of "police work" in public areas should be stopped.
No. When that happens, she's fighting for her rights.
Tucker's comment sounds like the over-compensated lie of someone who got blown in a men's room, liked it, and then freaked out about it.
Tucker Carlson is a douche, no doubt. But with all that's being talked about men's room cruising I have to say it's one thing if you're in a gay bar and some dude wants to fuck around. But I don't have a problem with laws against it in places like airports and such. I just don't think it's appropriate.
left coast @6: Are you familiar with sarcasm? Clearly, calling the story 'comedy' was sarcastic, and it makes me sad and sucks all the wind out of the tale itself to have to explain it to you. Tucker viewed it as a comical story. Gawker, by using sarcasm, is shining a rather harsh light on that fact. Please, pull stick from ass prior to commenting.
Oh yeah, and that's not to say Fucker Carlson's actions were appropriate either. I'd be willing to bet he made most or all of it up. I don't think that's the sort of experience he would sit on and not milk for all it's worth right after it happened.
I agree with Monkey. Public sex in airport bathrooms is not appropriate and should continue to be illegal.
Holy crap! What an asshole. Tucker, I'm glad Jon Stewart took down your stupid show! I'm just sad you ended up on MSNBC five seconds later.
Would that be a metaphorical stick or have I not noticed that I've been sitting on a stick all day? Fuck you. Read Dan's abbreviated version of the Gawker quote and not the full one on Gawker. Sorry to cause you such a downer fitherblog. Again, my apologies and fuck you.
@15, Fnarf, and others...
I'm not arguing that public sex shouldn't be illegal...but Mr. Craig did not engage in public sex, or at least not in this instance. He was arrested for the pre-stages of potentially getting to the point of propositioning someone for maybe sexual relationships...
That's what should not be illegal.
Yes. And we should not be arrested for the pre-stages of murder, rape, et. al.
@ 18, I think he was arrested for a more serious crime but plead guilty to lesser charges. Given his stature they must have had him dead to rights or he would have fought it.
@18, I sorta agree with you. But something to consider is what was the undercover cop doing to entice the Senator? (jacking off perhaps?) I am not sure that any freak is going to stare into a bathroom stall for 2 minutes without some reason for doing so. There is more to this than what the police report has listed.
But the Senator DID plea to the charge and if he really thought he did nothing wrong, why enter a plea of guilty under any circumstance? So the Senator in this case is guilty.
It's worth noting that Tucker Carlson wasn't hit on just once but it's epidemic. Apparently his son plays soccer on Fire Island and you can't even go to the bathroom there without dudes hitting on you.
Oddly rape and murder are illegal acts -- having sex isn't. So approaching someone to kill or rape them would justify being arrested. Lets get the cops out into the singles bars and arrest all the straight boys for staring at boobs, then we can talk about arresting men for making passes at other men.
There is no greater measure of a man than the number of friends he has to recruit to help him beat up a faggot.
Is that an example of what used to be called homosexual panic?
This is true. But we're talking about a Republican Senator. Someone who was most likely traveling on our dollar at the time of the hypocritical and, needless to say, creepy events. It doesn't change the fact that he should not have been arrested, but it serves more proof that your rights will be pulled when it comes to events like this, depending on who you are.
If this happened with the same cop and some random nobody, it would never have received this coverage. Ever. We probably wouldn't even be discussing it right now. Dan wouldn't have been called on CNN. At the most, it would have been a standard headline on Drudge.
So what I'm saying is that it doesn't matter whether or not it's illegal in Craig's situation. We all know now. And that's what matters the most.
But I see your point. And agree.
@18: It's unclear for what offense the officer arrested Sen. Craig. It could have been for one or both of the offenses with which Minnesota eventually charged him: Disorderly Conduct and Invasion of Privacy.
That the arresting officer was investigating complaints about lewd conduct in the bathroom, and that the officer's report discussed the "signals" he read from Sen. Craig's behaviors, does not mean that he arrested Sen. Craig for pre-stages of lewd conduct.
An officer only needs probable cause to believe someone has committed a crime to arrest that person. When Sen. Craig peered in at the officer, then stuck his foot and hand in the officer's stall, the officer at least had probable cause to believe that Sen. Craig had committed Disorderly Conduct and/or Invasion of Privacy.
Somebody really needs to grab a hold of this. Don Imus calls somebody a NAME and gets run out of town. This bowtie-wearing schmuck admits to a homophobic act of PHYSICAL VIOLENCE - and what? Ha ha, next story? I don't think so.
#18, true BUT he could have plead "not guilty" and probably would have got the charges dropped. He didn't. Because he really was trying to get some dude in a public restroom to fool around with him. A thought, I might add, that makes me throw up a little in my mouth.
You'd think Tucker would know better. I mean, wearing that bow tie everywhere, and hanging out with Republicans, he must get gay bashed constantly.
That is SO upsetting to hear! How Awful! I am writing to MSNBC immediatley and we all should! It breaks my heart that he can get away with something like that.
I am proud to say that I saw him once on M Street in Georgetown leaving J.Pauls, and I called him a douchebag right to his douchey little face!
So approaching someone to kill or rape them would justify being arrested.
I'm sorry, are you suggesting that we should arrest people we think are going to commit a crime, but who haven't actually done anything illegal?
I think Tucker meant to say he went back to him with another guy and tried to get some group action going.
Look, he's a Republicant, they're mostly gay in the closet kind of fellows. Who dupe some poor suspecting Christian woman into marrying them "to save their soul" from their "un-Christlike longings".
18 -- yes, in a closed stall in a public toilet is sure as hell should be illegal.
God, I hope the guy this happened to sees this clip and files charges against that bastard. Tucker Carlson is an immature, hateful little prick.
But as a straight woman, I have to agree that I can't understand why ANYONE of any gender or orientation would even consider hitting on Tucker Carlson.
Every time I see John Carlson, I have to stifle a visceral urge to beat him up.
@38 - you and me both, Napolean.
what Tucker the Fucker failed to mention was that the dude who beat up the gay guy was his boyfriend.
That story is such obvious phony crap. It sounds like he made it up on the spot. I hope someone out there is digging into this and will force Carlson the douchebag into putting up and producing police reports or admit his "big man gay-basher" story is a lie.
He has always been a nitwit. The question I continue to ask myself is how does this frat boy continue to rate having a show on cable.
His show sucks. He a lame ass. Now we find out he thinks people will like it if he spins us a tale about the good old days when he used to beat up creepy guys in a bathroom.
It looks like this thread is dead, and the story doesn't seem to have legs. It's not getting much coverage, and the media that is following it up has bought into Tucker's barely believable explanation.
I'm still pissed, though; if you think you've been assaulted, you don't come back half an hour later with a friend...you call the police. And, I doubt Dan Abrams had this questionable back story when he was laughing about smashing a gay guy's head into the stall.
Sorry it bothered you so much to have someone blatantly solicit - even grab - you. It shouldn't have happened. That doesn't justify you being a vigilante instead of calling the cops, it doesn't justify you crowing about it years alter, and it doesn't justify NBC frat boy anchors laughing about it.
It shouldn't be dropped. Why does Michael Savage get thrown off MSNBC for calling people names, while Carlson admits beating a guy up?
Carlson admits going back 25 minutes later to supposedly detain this guy while waiting for the cops. He admits going back and then assaulting him. If not a gay bashing it's at least an assault because of the lack of imminent harm.
Someone needs to pull the DC police record and see if this actually occurred. If it did, someone would have been charged with a crime. Carlson still went back and committed an assault after removing himself from imminent harm.
If it didn't happen then Carlson is using laughter about a gay bashing as an excuse to feather his nest as a conservative pundit. I'm undecided which I find more disgusting.
It isn't merely assault. Going away for 25 minutes and coming back with another guy makes it first degree aggravated assault.
Had the man he assaulted died (by accident, from having his head bashed a little too hard), in many states, Carlson would be subject to execution. See:
