What Mr. Craig allegedly did should not be a crime. The gay community has been been harassed for years through this type and style of so-called police work.

I'm not arguing that public sex shouldn't be illegal...but Mr. Craig did not engage in public sex, or at least not in this instance. He was arrested for the pre-stages of potentially getting to the point of propositioning someone for maybe sexual relationships...

But the Senator DID plea to the charge and if he really thought he did nothing wrong, why enter a plea of guilty under any circumstance? So the Senator in this case is guilty.

This is true. But we're talking about a Republican Senator. Someone who was most likely traveling on our dollar at the time of the hypocritical and, needless to say, creepy events. It doesn't change the fact that he should not have been arrested, but it serves more proof that your rights will be pulled when it comes to events like this, depending on who you are.

If this happened with the same cop and some random nobody, it would never have received this coverage. Ever. We probably wouldn't even be discussing it right now. Dan wouldn't have been called on CNN. At the most, it would have been a standard headline on Drudge.

So what I'm saying is that it doesn't matter whether or not it's illegal in Craig's situation. We all know now. And that's what matters the most.

That the arresting officer was investigating complaints about lewd conduct in the bathroom, and that the officer's report discussed the "signals" he read from Sen. Craig's behaviors, does not mean that he arrested Sen. Craig for pre-stages of lewd conduct.

An officer only needs probable cause to believe someone has committed a crime to arrest that person. When Sen. Craig peered in at the officer, then stuck his foot and hand in the officer's stall, the officer at least had probable cause to believe that Sen. Craig had committed Disorderly Conduct and/or Invasion of Privacy.

I'm still pissed, though; if you think you've been assaulted, you don't come back half an hour later with a friend...you call the police. And, I doubt Dan Abrams had this questionable back story when he was laughing about smashing a gay guy's head into the stall.

Sorry it bothered you so much to have someone blatantly solicit - even grab - you. It shouldn't have happened. That doesn't justify you being a vigilante instead of calling the cops, it doesn't justify you crowing about it years alter, and it doesn't justify NBC frat boy anchors laughing about it.

Carlson admits going back 25 minutes later to supposedly detain this guy while waiting for the cops. He admits going back and then assaulting him. If not a gay bashing it's at least an assault because of the lack of imminent harm.

Someone needs to pull the DC police record and see if this actually occurred. If it did, someone would have been charged with a crime. Carlson still went back and committed an assault after removing himself from imminent harm.

If it didn't happen then Carlson is using laughter about a gay bashing as an excuse to feather his nest as a conservative pundit. I'm undecided which I find more disgusting.

Had the man he assaulted died (by accident, from having his head bashed a little too hard), in many states, Carlson would be subject to execution. See:
