2008 $600,000

onThat’s how much Bush’s visit to Bellevue raised on Monday, according to Postman. Part of that money will go to the state Republican party, and part of it will go to the reelection campaign of eastside Republican Congressman Dave Reichert.
On the Democratic side, Darcy Burner, who wants to challenge Reichert in the general election, raised more than $120,000 from an online counter-fundraiser that was tied to the Bush appearance.
I write more about all of this in the issue of The Stranger that comes out later this afternoon.

So $120,000 is more than $600,000 now? How's that work?
And it cost the taxpayers how much for Bush to fly in Airforce 1 and all the other planes with his limo, secret service detail, etc etc etc etc.
So basically we all just paid for Bush to campaign for the silver fox.
Yes Monkey, we all just paid big bucks for Bush to raise money for Reichert.....but you have to pay really big bucks to actually see "our" president...and sign a loyalty oath, and support the war, and be a dickhead.
The Stranger should hire Russell Johnson. Give us something to freak out about. Let him post this shit.
So how much did the overtime for just the 400 King County police officers and municipal police officers in Seattle and other county municipalities cost?
Another Republicant unfunded federal mandate to pay for their CAMPAIGN FUNDRAISER.
Just sayin.
Came in here to say the same thing as Will. I'd like to add in the additional cost of the thousands of people idling on 405 and 5 while he whizzed by...
The president should have to reimburse cities he travels to for campagne stops.
Uhm, I mean campaign. Oops. I can't spell.
Maybe we can bill them for it, @6?
I think that's been tried several times Will, but I can't recall any municipality actually getting compensated for their expenses.
For whatever small consolation it may be, at least it isn't the City of Seattle footing the bill this time.
