posted by on July 25 at 17:03 PM

A man was just shot in the leg in front of the post office on 23rd in the Central District. Close the post offices, Greg.

It's about time. Have you seen that dump on Broadway. Not only is it an eyesore, but the amount of dealing that occurs around there..! It's taking Broadway down.

Dan, you're on it!

The occasional shooting at a post office vs a weekly shooting at a hip hop nightclub.

Yeah the real problem is the post office.

Does your brain ever hurt from keeping you breathing?

Dude, Sarcasm. Hello. Also, the other shooting last night was in front of the Satellite Lounge, which is about as hip-hop as Prince Charles.

Whatever,

nightlife in Seattle is pathetic. When nightspots regularly have shootings, you should shut them down.

1 strike, you are out.

Guns don't kill people

Nightclubs and Post Offices kill people.

Everyone know that. Duh.

I prefer the post that said that the Satellite shooting was "Shooting occurs 1 block from police station" it really is how you put the title of a story that counts the realm of public opinion.

Instead of focusing on the imminent threat of 'clubs of mass destruction' perhaps we should focus on why shootings like this are happening more and more often? What is different now then from a year or two ago?

Recent Seattle shootings: post office, cemetary, Seattle University, University of Washington. Please shut them all down before ecco homo stops hating black people.

Motherfucker! I'm fucking sick of all the bullshit that goes on at 23rd and Union, especially since I fucking live at 20th and Union. Even more amazing is that this afternoon when I went to make a deposit, there was a cop car parked at the Key Bank just keeping an eye on shit and this still happened. I've called 911 a few times a week after hearing gunfire for the past month and I'm just getting pissed off. Can we get an equivalent to Needle Park in Amsterdam so the junkies and crackheads can be safely placed in one location, a location that's not near my or anyone else's house?

Gitai,

Please lay off the racism.

Thank you.

ecce, god damn it. Get off the Slog and come in here and give me a blowjob.

Do you remember the last time you gave me a blowjob, my soon to be ex-wife?

It was new year's eve. And you were drunk. So drunk that you passed out midway through.

You rolled over and left your dentures attached to Mr. Happy. And then your toupee fell off.

Do you remember what I did with them, sweet ecce? Yes, that's right. I took our son's silly putty and your toupee and the dentures and formed a little vagina with dentata for your morning pleasure.

Yes, that was cruel of me, but damn it, a blowjob a year does not lead to conjugal bliss.

And now that you've discovered Slog all you do is storm around the house in your unwashed brownie tighties screaming epithets at Savage and all the other infidels and morons on Slog and then pound away at the keyboard.

Come back to us ecce. I want you to pound away on me.

See this ecce? It ain't gonna suck itself.

PS, sweetie, you can't spell for shit. Please find a spell checker.

@10 It's not about the color of the junkies and crackheads, it's about the fact that when I go to the fucking bank, I have to pass through a crowd of junkies and crackheads. Trust me, my many, many black neighbors aren't exactly pleased about living in a neighborhood where you hear gunshots a few times a week, and where you have to pass through a crowd of junkies and crackheads to go to the fucking bank. They're concerned about the effect on their families too, particularly since as recently as three months ago, I never heard gunshots in my neighborhood. So, please, ecce, if you're so blase about the whole thing, please, please, please invite the people who are shooting at each other, dealing and smoking crack to do so in front of your house. You're welcome to them.

@14,

Exactly. Black people have long had to deal with that shit much more than white people. It harms them more than us.

@15

Very true. The difference is access to power. With more white people in the neighborhood, the shootings have a higher profile. They are more likely to be reported for one since a lot of white people don't get the fact that if they call the cops, any old person of color on the street is apt to be harrased (if not inaccuratley incarcerated) when they show up.

No one should have to live around violence. But, the answer cannot be displacement if we are to pretend to have any semblence of community. Most of those kids on the corner grew up in the neighboorhood and have just as much right to it, if not more than anyone else. Also, research the neighborhood before you move into it. And please don't come in and try to shut down the businesses that have been there forever-sustaining the community.

Want to end the violence? Fund education so that low income and people of color have more options besides hustling. Remember, they are kids too.
