Republicans Surrender, Cede Fries to French

Posted by on August 2 at 17:08 PM

Freedom fries are no more.

Neither Reps. Bob Ney of Ohio nor Walter B. Jones of North Carolina, the authors of the culinary rebuke, were willing this week to say who led the retreat, as it were, from the frying pan. But retreat there has been, as a casual observer can see for himself in the House’s basement cafeterias. “We don’t have a comment for your story,” said a spokeswoman for Mr. Ney. Several Republican staffers and lawmakers suggest that the change isn’t worth investigating, unlike the eagerness in March 2003 to get into the headlines about patriotism on the menu.

Vive la France!

La victoire a la France! Tous les frites sont de nous!

Dang. Now I want some of those Dick's greasy fries.

Thank goodness we've finally seen the end of this particular chapter of shame in American history. After six years of beatings, I guess we rationalists have to take our tiny victories where we can get 'em.

Yep after all the dead soldiers started to arrive back home in Ohio and North Carolina these two fuckwits of republicans decided to cut and run from the freedom fries patriotic frontlines of congress.

How sad. It sure gave the french a good laugh (who know well that these fries are in their origin just a french as Hercule Poirot). But they'll always find something: looking at the american biggotry and violence is their biggest consolation these days, as they are in the middle of a huge social crisis.

I am in France staying with a host family right now, and to my immense surprise, they had never heard of 'freedom fries.' When I explained it a few days ago, I think I made them even more scornful of the US. Glad to say I can now testify that we're getting a little bit less inane :-)

War is peace. Slavery is freedom. Fries are French.

I for one welcome our greasy fry overlords.
