Good News for People Who Love Good News

23 years after his debut with the Smiths, Johnny Marr has become a full-time member of Modest Mouse.

I can honestly say that I would never have predicted this in a million years, and can’t wait to hear what happens…

I'm almost giddy over the possible music that will come of it.

fuck. i guess it had to happen. if Marr hadn't "jumped the shark" before (and i think he had), this would certainly qualify. since 1993's Dusk LP with The The, Marr has been a shell of his former self. this only goes to prove he is actually the coke-addicted, burnt out session guitarist his detractors have always accused him of being. this pairing sounds even more ridiculous than Andy Rourke, Mani and Peter Hook playing together in a band called Freebass.

RIP. Johnny Marr. You had a good run of 11 years (1982-1993) but everyone dies eventually.

Just pathetic, I'm sorry.

Throw in Kool Moe Dee and Sporty Spice and you'd have one heck of a reality TV show.

Modest Mouse blows no matter who's helping them write music.

Y'all are crazy.

Jonny Marr's assistance with The the made the two recordings that he was on easily some of the best records of the early 90's.

And, with Modest Mouse? I want to see him playing 'Trailer Trash'. Not to mention a new recording.

That is the coolest, weirdest thing that has ever happened.
