Where Are You Right Now?

Posted by on July 12 at 11:45 AM

Demographic sample hour: If you’re NOT inside Seattle’s city limits right now, readers, where are you?

[Update: The responses to this are fascinating so I’m moving the post up to the top again.]

Posted by: Mike in MO"

Yeah, I used to live in St. Louis (I miss the Blues and the Drewes), and it's a fairly blue area. You have to get out to where they pronounce the state "Missouruh" to get to the red state area. Although the state is trending blue -- Claire McCaskill's running a really strong Senate race against the ironically named incumbent Talent.

Beverly, MA

Fleming's Beach, Maui County, Hawaii

You can get this data in a more comprehensive way if you feel like it - somewhere on a server there's a log file with the IP addresses of every computer that hits your website, and there are commercial databases that roughly translate IP address -> geographical location. (If you've ever seen porn ads that show a woman holding a sign saying "I heart boys from ______", and in our case "______" would be Seattle, that's how they do it)

Bremerton. I work in Seattle, but today is my day off. Yay!

God help me: Lincoln, Nebraska

washington d.c.

and its hot as balls, with 1000% humidity.

you say that's not possible, but then, you aren't here.

Burnaby, BC, Canada

Park City, UT

Fort Worth, Texas and missing home.

Vashon Island, WA

Non-funky, cold Medina.

Greeley, CO

Stamford,Ct

I think Noink is missing the point. I doubt Amy Kate was simply looking for cold data. It is the ubiquity of slog nation that is interesting.

btw -Greg mentioned Ted Drewes 50 comments ago. If any of you sloggers are ever in the Lou, check it out. You'll never have a tastier treat...

Chicago, Il

alright, chris! another floridian in the house. i'm in jacksonville.

In one of Bellevue's gleaming office towers. I commute here from Cap Hill and WANT MY DAMN LIGHT RAIL ACROSS THE WATER NOW. Stop screwing around with this stupid preliminary BRT idea and just build the dang rails and get my transit solution out of direct competition for the same lanes with the single passenger autos. I don't want a bus, I want a train. GIVE ME WHAT I WANT!

Lynnwood, WA

Brier, WA.

Chicago, IL

In Hellevue, WA 98004 looking at a big dig.

Guam

Cambridge, MA

Washington, DC

I thought conworks was closed.

And why is Ken Lay in Guam? I thought his money was all in offshores accounts in Bermuda, at last count.

I'm still drying off from the morning rain in the Republic of Fremont. But I wish I was surfing off of UCSB on my board.

Up hill from Carly.

Hey, baby! I hope we get chicken at the galley tonight.

Happy Birthday, Phil!

Sudbury, ON, Canada

(I was) on the eastern shore of Hood Canal, 10 miles south of Holly, Washington

Port Angeles, WA

Everett right now but I read it all the time at school in Montreal.

Also woohoo Ann Arbor, my home town. Oh yeah and I guess I like Seattle too. Montreal's public transit just makes me a tad too jealous. Bus near my apartment: http://www2.stm.info/azimuts/horaire.wcs?l=80&d=N&t=50111&lng=a
those ellipses during rush hour just mean 'too often to write out', which is why they skip over 16h, 17h, and 18h, lazy montrealers. The night bus is listed seperately. But I still probly use the subway more.

Port Townsend, Washington. Must get my daily fix-o-the-Slog.

madison, wi

Kirkland, WA

I'm at a friend's in White Center, which might be annexed to Seattle, but until then, it is technically outside of the Seattle city limits. Damn those Fremont people for not listening!

Shoreline

fredericksburg, va

Grand Rapids, MI

(God I miss the city.)

Washington, DC

London, UK

How did I miss this?

San Diego, as always.

Ah, missed it as well
Boulder, CO where only a handful of kids can say slog and not get looked at funny.

Colorado Springs, CO

bklyn ny

Philadelphia, PA

Denver, CO

Edinburgh, Scotland

Weston, MA (Boston suburb)

Minneapolis, Minne-snow-ta

Santa Barbara, CA
