[It’s 2:56, and I’m moving this to the top of the page in hopes of getting a fresh wave of replies.]

Hello citizens of the Slog.

I have a question for you, and it has to do with cheap booze and food.

Specifically: What are your favorites of Seattle’s many fabulous happy hours?

If you’ve got a happy hour to hype (perhaps adding a few words about what makes it special), please reply below. Thanks!

Kai's in the U-District. Delicious $2 mac and cheese. And plump $2 prawns.

I'm a big fan of Blue C sushi in Fremont. One dollar sushi rolls, 2 dollar sashimi, and cheap well martinis. Can't beat it, 4-6 every day.

sushi - that sounds awesome.

Café Metropolitan has $0.25 PBRs from 5-7 every day.

And I think they have food or something.

The Chapel on melrose is my hands down fave $4 martinis rock... On the odd occasion when I get so drunk I need to suck up the booze with food i've been more than happy too.

perhaps I'm morbid but I just like thinking about drinking in the place that bruce lee was cremated....

I'd have to be paid a lot more than $.25 to drink a PBR.

I'm still a fan of Ivar's Salmon House happy hour, especially out on the deck. Good enough, inexpensive food. Not sure what the drink prices are tho (http://ivars.net/Salmon_House_Home/sh_bar.pdf says that it's only draft beers for $2.95)

Bernard's on Seneca, the only place in downtown Seattle that caters to my people.

There's a pretty extensive list of happy hours (not sure how up-to-date it is) at this website:

www.seattletravel.com/seattle-happyhour-capitol.htm

My fav's include McCormick and Schmick's (on 1st) downtown for the really cheap and yummy food. On the hill I really dig The War Room...cheap booze and a great outdoor patio.

TO John: Fuck you, PBR is sweet, sweet nectar of the gods.

the maharaja gives you free indian appetizers when you buy a drink between 5-8, plus they have $3 wells all of the time.

the war room also has a pretty kick ass roof top happy hour. $2 beers and $3 wells.

seconded on the chapel.

virginia inn is my favorite place for afternoon drinks: strong and delicious martinis, really great waitstaff, good (and inexpensive) starters and lovely, unpretentious atmosphere

I will provide another second on the Chapel. That is a great deal.

Vitto's on 1st hill by a long shot.

Weekdays 4 or 5 - 7pm. 2$ wells and beer. 2$ food including delish personal pizza's. Scant crowd, nice mix of people, stiff drinks, don't have to walk all the way from downtown to cap hill to get my drink
on.

And can't go wrong with the 50's decor.

The Union Square Grill downtown has a nice progressive Happy Hour...if you're lucky enough to start drinking at 3:00, it's only $3. Ditto for food.

the hi-life in ballard has $3 wood-fired pizzas (including wild mushroom and carmelize onion, yummy!) and $3 beers and wells. can we say perfecto?

Matador (locations in Ballard and West Seattle) has an incredible $4 plate of nachos, 4-6pm and again from 10pm to closing.

I'll throw my vote in for Chapel and War Room.

Rosebud's 2.50 wells ain't bad.

And Man Ray will get you drunk for about $9...

I also am a big Chapel fan. The space is incredible and everytime I have friends from out of town I bring them to check it out. Killer happy hour that goes until 8 and last week they opened up an outside seating area.

West Five
Mission (greatest late night happy hour)
Chapel
Wasabi Bistro
Nine Pound Hammer
Noc Noc (for that divey bar feeling - complete with tater tots and 2 dollar vodka lemonades --yumyum)

Speaking of dives, I need to say that Lava Lounge has become a dreadful, dreadful place. Too many derilicts and the bar tenders are total jerks with a crappy attitude. That place sucks now. I much prefer Nine Pound Hammers low key attitude for shuffleboard or Noc Noc for a downtown dive experience.

Umm, we're serving goldfish crackers at the Bus Stop...

Best late-ish happy hour is the Green Lake Grill. 10pm till close every night (incl. Sat and Sun). They have a full on happy hour menu with appetizers, salads and entree's. After 10pm it gets tough to find anything prepared to eat beyond Jai Thai, the Hurricane, or the gut-bomb that is Dicks.

Unthirsty has a neat Google Maps mashup that details happy hours in Seattle and Portland:

http://www.unthirsty.com/index.php?Address=Seattle

Best mascots I've seen in a while, too. I am not a shill, honest.

I will provide a second on Maharaja. I've been going there for years and was so excited when they added the bar. Those free appetizers are awesome.
Oh, and the Green Lake Bar and Grill only has food on weekends. I have been disappointed twice by the absence of late night food at the Grill.

The McCormick and Schmick's on Westlake for the cheap, cheap food. Ruth's Criss has good cheap food during happy hour too.

CHAPEL ROCKS BECAUSE
chapel has this tasty lemon rosemary margarita that costs way too much money.. i was there the other night and after drinking only one i left without taking my wallet with me.. dunno why. i wadn't drunk.and i almost never ever lose things but when i woke up the next day and put on my pants , the wallet wadn't there.
i called em the next day and the waiter, who didn't know me from eve, not only picked up my wallet , but left ALL of the money in it ( close to $300 cause i just got paid.. and it was all the money i had in life.. always one paycheck away from being homeless ) put it in the safe and tried to contact me even though there was no phone number and my id is in my maiden name.
it was enough to restore a bit of lost faith in humankind..
BIG love to em

The late (10-midnight) happy hour at the DeLuxe. When we lived in Seattle, we were there regularly. Half-off appetizers with purchase of a drink. The drinks are tasty, so are the appetizers (Korean BBQ ribs! Crab cakes!), and the staff is friendly and prompt.

1. Can Can - The Contabellas are delish', any time of the day!

2. Olivers - In The Mayflower, so no special drink prices, but FREE veggies, cheese and crackers for a couple of late afternoon hours.

For realz, the Maharajah (Or "The Raj" or "The Maha") is tight. $3 doesn't just get you a drink, but a stiff, large, sip-on-it-for-an-hour drink, plus free food till 8. Garlic naan is a great way to keep those vodkas from sneaking up on you. Plus the bartenders (male and female) are all babes, they're nice, AND the music is good. I recommend going Sundays-through-Wednesdays when it's not as busy.

Right across the street is the Rosebud: $2 wells till 8, and a couple of all-night-$2-nights, and a tiny-but-rad patio.

The Lime Rickey's at the Dragonfish downtown go perfect with the $2 sushi special, till 6 o'clock (all day Monday!).

Dang, beat me to it. I was going to talk about Blue C Sushi's Happy Hour from 4-6 pm too. One dollar sushi rolls can't be beat, especially with cheap well martinis.

You can also get half-price bagels from 2-4 pm on Sundays and Mondays at the Bagel Oasis in Fremont. Although I think they're called Bagel Deli or something now.

For a another good list of happy hours, check out the Seattle Drunks Wiki.

Ooh, the Dragonfish has a sushi special! I love their Lime Rickey's! Sadly, I usually walk to work, and since they killed bus service to Gas Works park ...

I can't believe I forgot to mention Rosebud earlier. It is awesome. $3 wells, chill atmosphere, and Roman is the best bartender ever. Only wish they had cheaper food so I could eat there too.

the Bal Mar in Ballard has a late happy hour with some pretty tasty small plates, but I think the food changes seasonally. I had some yummy fries with banana ketchup and some really good clams. I think their drinks get cheaper, too, but I was just there for the food.

Nectar in Fremont. The drink specials aren't that great, but the happy hour menu is excellent, and the patio facing 36th St is a nice place to revel in the fact that you're not driving home from work.

K&K

Duck Island, but the food is from Beth's, so 12 egg omlet for happy happy hour?

David - I am glad that you asked this fine question, and I would like to respond with a fine answer.

But, since I can't think of a fine answer, I'll tell you about our Happy Hour here @ Liberty.

"What's Liberty?" you ask?

Well, Liberty is a bar on 15th (CapHill) that serves great drinks, has tasty sushi (until 2am every day) and comfy couches.

About that question about Happy Hour? We have one from 4 - 7pm every single day, and just because you asked, we'll do a sushi happy hour from 12am until close for everyone that says that they saw something in the Slog about Happy Hour.

Now - I have to go and figure out what we'll do for a Late Night Happy Hour.

Off I go.

Libery
517 15th Ave. E.

What about the Flying Fish? Drinks aren't cheap, but they have $.25 oysters on the half shell... that's right, $3 a dozen. At those prices, you can FEAST on oysters and still have enough cash for the bus home.

Also good: Cascadia, also in Belltown. Tasty tasty miniburgers for $1 and these sweet sweet douglas fir martinis for $4. My top pick for happy hour dinner.

hey!
west seattle has a new happy hour worth looking into. the skylark cafe and club has a 3-7 happy with all wells and all drafts just $2.50. plus from 4-6 a generous happy hour menu just $4.
it's right off the west seattle bridge on delridge.

Yup, Flying Fish's oyster happy hour is great. Get yer Mercury Buzz on. BUT, you have to either call them to check, or remember when oyster season is (months with 'R's in 'em). So, sadly, oysters are like $25 a dozen there at the moment. Wah.

I am a big fan of Ivars, in part because it starts at 9.
Another big happy hour list/wiki
