Sarah Mirk Contributed to this Story.

Posted by on June 7 at 22:25 PM

Hey, I owe an apology to Stranger news intern, Sarah Mirk. I was assigned a 4,000 word feature story by my krazy boss on Friday…due to my krazy boss on Monday. It’s in today’s paper.

Anyway, Stranger news intern, Sarah Mirk saved my ass by doing much research and fact checking, and she didn’t get a proper “Sarah Mirk contributed to this story” credit.

Perhaps, given that I published sentences like: “What if a pharmacist feels they don’t have the training or expertise to safely administer a new drug safely?” I should have asked Ms. Mirk to write the article as well.

Are you going to start giving credit to *everyone* who helps with your stories???

Also, while on the bitchy writing tip: the proper pronoun for "a pharmacist" is not the plural "they."

"They" is proper if you do not want to refer to a specific gender. Also, the English language is fucked up.

No way, Z... "they" is never proper to refer to one person. If you want to use "they," the proper approach is to rewrite the sentence with a plural noun: "What if certain pharmacists feel they don't have...."

"He" is, and always has been, the accepted gender-neutral pronoun. Using "they" in cases like this is p.c. and, more importantly, grammatically incorrect.

aww, jeezus. fucked up, as i said.

I read Sara Mirk as S.Mirk, or "Smirk"

Are you sure she's not another Nancy Drew type appellation?

Josh,
The story was well done and important.

Yeah I really enjoyed the story, thanks Josh!

And thanks Sara!

"s/he"? "he or she"? one? make pharmacist plural? lots of alternatives to a singular, gender neutral "they".
