Re: Where’s Stephen Colbert?

Posted by on May 2 at 11:18 AM

Interesting comparative commentary at Seeingtheforest.com about how media response to Colbert’s skewering of Bush differed dramatically from the way a similar incident at a Clinton administration dinner was covered back in 1996.

Note that a lot of Washington Post coverage today, since the MSM realized that two-thirds of America didn't buy their "nothing happened" version.

Truth is stranger than a WH press conference.

That was then and this is now... and Imus probably didn't trash the Press Corp.

afer all, it's business as usual...

Text of the Don Imus speech, if anyone's curious. [Super Imus Links Pages]

Further mainstream media coverage:

Lou Dobbs just discussed this with three guests. The talking point was that the media's liberal bias is responsible both for Colbert not being admonished in the press and for Imus being attacked when he went after Clinton.

One of the guests, a radio personality from Georgia, took issue with Colbert's "Bush believes on Wednesday what he believed on Monday regardless of what happened on Tuesday" joke because 9/11 happened on a Tuesday.

I hadn't even thought of that angle. Was that reference intended? Was it out of line? Huh. Doesn't bother me.

Great, now Republicans own Tuesday FOR ALL TIME.

I for one will forever own Tuesday. In fact, I'm going to file a Patent for Tuesday. Hey, they laughed at software patents ...
