Thank GAWD. Does this mean The Morning Alternative will come back?

I have no idea what's going to happen now, but as soon as I'll find out, I'll post more updates.

I really liked Adam Carolla when he was doing Loveline, but his morning show sucks sucks sucks.

I know Phil Manning had married himself to the cancellation of DJ No-Name, in favor of Carolla.

Oh yeah, and play more Oasis.

What, did he finally get tired of how soulless it had become? I gave up on the End once I started hearing Fall-Out Boy and Linkin Park (again). Adam Carolla kind of sealed the deal... he's funny in small doses and annoying as hell in large ones. I wonder what this means for the End's format?

who cares? the end hasn't been relevant since... ever.

Who the hell listens to commercial radio anymore?

Seriously.

Who the hell PAYS for radio?

local alternative radio station

Well, anyone who thinks kndd is 'local' or 'alternative' probably would find this compelling news. Tommorow, I'm sure we'll all hear about (exciting!) the guy who bought a convenience-store burrito or the red-light-running suv.

The End jumped the shark years ago. What they do isn't relevant anymore.

I am not even remotely a fan of The End. Their committment to good music has always been guided by numbers; commercial radio's job is to make money, first and foremost. Manning was running that place from the the Nickelback/Creed years to the recent Modest Mouse/Death Cab days.

But to dismiss The End as irrevelevant -- when they reach hundreds of thousands of people every day -- is stupid. Whether it's as cool as it was when you were in high school or not, that station continues to be a primary source of music and pop culture for teenagers all over Puget Sound. It may the lowest common denominator, but when it raises money for the Vera Project, when it exposes these kids to local bands every once in a while (as often as it feasibly can while making money money money), its relevance is unquestionable.

It may not be as cool as KEXP, KGRG, or KAOS. But it is a better world with The End playing the Flaming Lips and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs between the Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco. Not unlike the bait-and-switch technique.

We had an alterna-station in Las Vegas called The Edge that was popular in its heyday, very much like The End, and reached hundreds of thousands each day, right up to the day their plug got pulled and replaced with a salsa station. They had lost their relevance even if they hadn't lost much listenership.

Radios reached and causes sponsored doesn't mean shit when it comes to relevance.
