Holy Shit! Local Playwright Leaves Town!

Posted by on February 3 at 12:17 PM

Sometime Seattle playwright Steven Dietz (Lonely Planet, God’s Country) is leaving us for a “sweet gig” as a playwriting teacher at the University of Texas at Austin.

And he makes the case for the post-play discussion, which I always thought was the worst thing you could possibly see in a theater. Including fire.

Read the interview here.

That's so sad that he's leaving--I'm definitely a fan of his work.

One time when post-play discussions can be interesting: Seattle Children's Theatre. If you've ever been there for one, you know what I mean. Kids really cut through the esoteric bull and get to the heart of the matter like: "how'd you get your hair to stand up like that?"

Post-play discussion? PLEASE. Playwrights, directors, stage actors and theatregoers talk far too much about the shows they see and participate in as it is.

It looks like you really had a nice time.

A very nice website !! Very well Done !!!

Follow your dreams, you can reach your goals.

Hope you come back soon!!

This site is a lot of fun very well designed.

Great. Thanks!
