More Council Intrigue

Posted by on January 20 at 18:17 PM

If the council doesn’t decide on a president next Monday, January 23, the presidency could become an issue in their choice of a new council member, expected to wrap up next Thursday. And, since the council plans to interview council candidates in private, one-on-one interviews (something even public-meeting supporter Peter Steinbrueck does not oppose), council members could ask candidates who they would support as council president and no one would ever know about it - adding an unseemly political dimension to what has already been a lightning-speed, closed-door process.

whatthafuk? so you're saying that the decision might actually be based upon whether the 6 applicants support Conlin or support Godden for council president? shouldn't it be based upon who is most qualified?

i can't say i'm surprised. i'm not. this charade is obviously all about power and not about getting Seattleites the very best representative.

thanks a lot for looking out for us shitty council!

This process has been very fast, but a lot of that has to do with the fact that the City Charter requires the Council to choose a candidate in 20 days after the original candidate resigns or they have to meet every day and vote until they choose someone.

As for Council Prez, I REALLY hope they pick someone before they pick the new Councilmember. That's all I'm sayin'.
