Capitol Hill Cat Murder

Posted by on October 7 at 11:51 AM

Perhaps you’ve been seeing this sign posted on poles around (Seattle’s) Capitol Hill:

Like me, you’re probably curious about the details of this allegedly brutal cat murder. Well, here they are, courtesy of an email from the dead cat’s grieving owner. (Warning: This is some fucked-up shit, and a testament to the scary new crack culture that’s flourishing in southeast Cap Hill…)

At 4:30 in the afternoon, Monday, October 3, ont 15th Avenue between Pine and Olive, my beloved 5-year-old cat Henrietta was brutally murdered in the backyard of my apartment complex. This event was witnessed by a neighbor whose window looks directly out on the backyard, who has also reported an increase in drug-strange behavior behind the building. (It is a small, close-knit complex, and my apartment manager  has stated that he will be locking up the gate to the yard TODAY!) The elderly gentleman who witnessed the horrific event is a retired California State patrol officer and got a very good look at the indvidual and the entirety of the crime. Now on to the gruesome details. A WOMAN in her late thirties/early forties put my beautiful kittie, who was very friendly and would walk up to ANYBODY,  in a canvas tote bag and repeaditly slammed it against the back of my building. The witness was confused by this action (I believe that at this time he did not know what was in the bag), and then saw my kittie roll out of the bag. He yelled at this evil woman, "Stop! Do you know what you're doing? You're killing an animal!" The woman then responded, "I don't give a fuck about a animal or human." Later that evening after the sun set, I went looking for my cat, and I could not find her. I looked in the backyard, but did not discover her body for it is very dark in the yard at night. The next morning, I found her collar lying in front of the steps of my building, and I found her laying in the yard. I was obvioulsy upset at finding my baby dead behind my building , but the pain and disgust that was to soon follow eclipsed all emotions over losing my best friend. The neighbor/witness then opened his window and told me what he had seen. And this is where I am now. I contacted the police, and they sent me a animal control officer, who was very nice, and now we need help in finding the culprit.

The next day around the same time, my boyfriend caught to scetchy male individuals in my yard, as they were leaving he saw that one of them had a crack pipe. This has led me to the conclusion that this individual was high perhaps, since it is a place frequented by drug users. i think this incident should be a wakeup call to this city and it's residnets of the seemingly ignored drug problem, I myself have never called the cops when I suspected drug activity there. Many people have asked why the witness did not call the cops immediatly during this incident, however the gentleman, who is disabled, called my apartment managment company and reported this incident to them, he had taken medication sometime before hand, and was having difficulty seeing after the first phone call to my managment company. Their are so many what if's in my mind, but i have to focus on finding this individual.

My boyfriend and I, as well as some family members and friends, are scraping together a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the individual responsible for this heinous crime. The Seattle Police Department can do nothing to help, being as the victim was a cat. Please please, help me get the story and description of the individual out there. This was a horrible, gruesome crime that happened in OUR neighborhood. Please help me fine this person!!!! My cat was a loving, sweet kitty. She was the light of my life, and I am livid and hurt by the senslessness of this crime! Please help.
