The Science of Cheney’s Life

posted by on October 15 at 8:11 AM

Does this have anything to do with the “October surprise”?

US Vice-President Dick Cheney is to receive treatment to correct an abnormal heart rhythm, his spokeswoman Megan Mitchell has said.

Mr Cheney has cancelled a planned political event and will undergo a procedure at George Washington University Hospital.

Mr Cheney, 67, has had four heart attacks, quadruple bypass surgery and operations to clear blocked arteries.

October has reached the halfway mark.

How would this be an October surprise? Let's say Cheney dies... how would that hurt Obama or help McCain? I don't really see it...

He'll probably "die" and get "buried" next to Ken Lay just before he has to face a criminal inquiry.

It's a Charles posting Julie, don't expect it to make too much sense. Don't worry, he'll get bored soon and go back to posting photos of beautiful women.

I can't believe how ignorant you slog people are. That's what being a maverick is all about. He can survive ANYTHING. And even if he can't he's got maverick number 2 ready to go. PS when we say number 2 we really mean number 2.

Eh, Cheney'll just get another fresh transplant from some fifteen-year-old snatched from the streets of Calcutta and he'll be back to plotting mankind's destruction from his undisclosed location far below the Earth's crust before you can say "Fourth Branch of Government."

I'd have enjoyed this post a whole lot more if it had included a pic of Monica Bellucci.

Tick or Treat?

Kind of points up how old people have a tendency to break down and die. Old people like John McCain.

My whack job theory: Cheney kicks it or retires because of this, bumping Pelosi into the VP spot for a few months - then Bush takes all credit for installing the first Female Vice President: Ta-da! - Instant Legacy!

Posted by ReverendZ | October 15, 2008 9:03 AM

Wait... Cheney has a heart?

Except that Pelosi wouldn't automatically succeed to the position of V.P. in this instance. Shrub would still have the option of appointing an interim Veep for the remaining few months of his term, and my guess is she wouldn't necessarily be at the top of his list.

Hell, given the Machiavellian thinking of the G.O.P. IF Cheney were to expire on the operating table, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see shrub appoint Palin to the spot, thus fulfilling your "legacy scenario", but also giving McSame the ability to tout her as suddenly having even MORE experience at the executive level.

Seriously, I think I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope the decrepit son-of-a-bitch survives; fifteen year-old Indian heart or no.

If Cheney dies before Inauguration Day that will prevent Bush from pardoning him on January 18th, so that on January 19th, Cheney could pardon Bush and they could ride off into the sunset free of subpoena, indictment and conviction.

Comte -- or to really put the tinfoil hat on... he could appoint McCain.

When I die I believe I will... go to an undisclosed location

Three-word medical/fashion advice for Cheney: Darth Vader suit.

To me the most interesting potential outcome would be:

If Cheney steps down or such, Bush could appoint Rice to be the first Black and female VP, thus taking a lot of the "historic" wind out of either campaign's sails.

Maybe everything should be settled in "Logan's Run" style...but make the age limit for "Carousel" 40 instead of 30. Men seem to believe that most women mysteriously become ugly and useless once they hit 40...and women seem to agree that men just become juvenile and pathetic. "Retire" everyone off at 40...keep it young, fresh and hip!

He's being refitted with a diesel engine and armor plating.

Oh dear lord... that means George W. Bush is only a heartbeat away from ...being actually in charge!

Posted by Andy Niable | October 15, 2008 12:29 PM

Death is too good for Cheney.
He deserves to live out the next two decades locked in a life-support machine, watching television reports of how President Obama is dismantling the Republican Corruption Regime, jailing all the BushCo. Traitors, expanding diplomacy, statesmanship, & humanitarianism, and energizing grassroots DIY democracy everywhere. Also, fixing the economy, negotiating an alliance with our galactic neighbors, and bringing Universal Peace.
