Stay Classy, Drudge

posted by on October 13 at 16:57 PM

The Drudge Report illustrates the headline “Obama goes door-to-door to drum up votes…” with this photo.

The connecting story features this photo. I have no idea where Drudge’s photo came from.

Whatever. Barack Obama is coming to your door to put his lips all over your sweet blonde wife or aunt or sister. Oooh, yeah.

Wow. Barack Obama can kiss MY cheek. That's a hot photo.

What do you expect from a shitbag like Drudge?

Posted by AMB | October 13, 2008 5:05 PM

Why would anyone go to Drudge's site in the 21st century?

I haven't gone to his site since 1997, can't even fathom a reason for going there, any more than I could going to FreeRepublic or AintItCoolNews

Posted by Just Sayin | October 13, 2008 5:06 PM

Where do I enter the drawing?

Posted by Jen | October 13, 2008 5:09 PM

Can any reporter people explain why Drudge sets the agenda for every news editor in the nation?

Posted by Original Andrew | October 13, 2008 5:17 PM

If it'll help him get elected, Obama can sleep with my wife any time.

Posted by Ben | October 13, 2008 5:18 PM

Now if only Obama can get Michelle to go out and do the same...

Posted by dr0q | October 13, 2008 5:39 PM

Stay classy, The Stranger. Do you guys have anymore ugly pictures of Sarah Palin for everyone to use?

Posted by pot kettle black | October 13, 2008 5:46 PM

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but the drudge report is the first site I check every day. I can't stand Matt Drudge, but I've been addicted to the drudgereport for years. When there is a disaster or some big scandal, it's ALWAYS there first. If someone can give me some better sites that update as often with breaking news, I promise I will try to give up the habit.

Posted by skeeter | October 13, 2008 5:48 PM

They (Fox, Drudge, etc) are so scared of not being spoon-fed exclusives, information, cabinet members to appear on their shows, (perhaps even payoffs?) that they are going to do ANYTHING to stop the opposition party from gaining power.

They're coming apart at the seems!

Posted by Non | October 13, 2008 5:50 PM

I want an Obama kiss. Maybe this could be a Slog poll.

Posted by Ariel | October 13, 2008 5:52 PM

Where Drudge's photo came from:

There are some really great pictures here, including Obama petting some dogs. Drudge is a douche.

Posted by Ozymandias | October 13, 2008 5:58 PM

Drudge is a right wing hack! Who knew? Thanks Slog!

Posted by Bob | October 13, 2008 6:04 PM

I visit Drudge's site exactly as often as I visit Sullivan's site, which is never. I knew who these two hacks were in the '90s and everything they've done since has only confirmed that they are hypocrites and know-nothings of the highest order. I wasn't entertained by them then and I'm not interested in them now.

Posted by whatevernevermind | October 13, 2008 6:12 PM

Honestly, I hate to say this but I can see that photo being used against him like the "call me, Harold" ad back in 2006.

What scares white men? Black men near hot white women.

Posted by apres_moi | October 13, 2008 6:13 PM

Hey, that's my shitty part of Ohio! Hi Maumee/Toledo.

Posted by Leslie N. | October 13, 2008 6:35 PM

The only site I know that mentions what's on Drudge is this Slog.

Posted by elenchos | October 13, 2008 7:18 PM

A kissing booth would sure rake in money for the campaign.

Posted by keshmeshi | October 13, 2008 7:35 PM

@18 Apparently you don't read the absolute best polling and analysis site on the interwebs: Nate Silver has been commenting on the Drudge spin for the past couple of days.

Posted by Ozymandias | October 13, 2008 7:44 PM

I think he's the best news source in the world.

Posted by Matt Drudge | October 13, 2008 7:51 PM

Good to see that Obama's going to have the cuckold vote locked up.

Posted by Ed | October 13, 2008 8:36 PM

I've been telling people all day Lindy's 11/05/08 Obama "Aleykum-us-sallam bitches!" joke - and everyone giggles their butt off.

Just looking for a little cosmic justice for ugly shit like this.

Posted by LH | October 13, 2008 8:47 PM

@15 - yes! that's the point and why some of us posting here are so disgusted with its use.

Posted by LH | October 13, 2008 8:51 PM

Class you say, here's a classy bit of animation which more or less captures what a McCain victory would really mean.

Posted by kinaidos | October 13, 2008 9:05 PM

We won't support NO-Bama and will re-defeat him in November !! Go Hillary 2012 !!!

Posted by clintonsarmy | October 13, 2008 9:23 PM

Hi all.
Well yes it's ever so important to constantly monitor the whole USA for every single racist sign and stuff but there was other news today.

Like the dow jones and market reaction around the world.
Oh and this the big Obama economic plan frollo out.
For those who care go check it out on politico, for those who don't just skip over yet another longish post.

"Barack Obama on Monday sought to take ownership of the central issue of the presidential election, the economy, by rolling out what his campaign billed as a major new “economic rescue plan for the middle class.”"

Very cool. As been sayin.'

"a moratorium on home foreclosures,"

ayup as been sayin' -- this was originaly an HRC idea dontcha know?

they did it in the Depression, too. Ayup. Various states stopped foreclosures totally.

"a tax credit for companies that create jobs,"

eh fairly typical, but good

"a federal program to prop up struggling local governments"

very responsible

"a waiver of penalties for families that withdraw early from their retirement accounts."

hmm even McCain wanted that....

"Economists said much of the plan echoed earlier proposals made by Obama, congressional Democrats and state governments, and they gave the new planks mixed reviews, while supporters of Obama’s Republican rival John McCain predicted it would result in higher taxes and more debt.

But Obama told more than 3,000 supporters at a convention center in this struggling city that quick government action is urgently needed to avert “a dark and painful recession.”

“We can’t wait to help workers and families and communities who are struggling right now,” he said.

At times, the crowd seemed to tune out as Obama ticked off the details of his plan."

Well yeah it's got no fight in it no tale no moral theme no fucking villian no overarching message.

Dear Obama:
you were better when you said you were fighting for the middle class and you had the big idea of getting away from the failed philosophy of the last eight years.

Pls. get back on message! The vision thing! Stop with boring wonky lists!

Thank you.

Your bestest supporter in Seattle,

I have said many hurtful, malicious things in these columns. I seeply apologize to all the people I have hurt by being an asshole.

Posted by Ecce Homo | October 13, 2008 11:07 PM

zomg obama will steal your white women!

the republicans will have to nuke an american city to even try to win this back.

Posted by skye | October 14, 2008 12:07 AM

@5: Great question. I've never visited the Drudge report, but hear about it all the damn time. Nothing I hear makes me want to visit, though.

Posted by me | October 14, 2008 2:05 AM

Barry is keeping his career options open as he might have to go back to working for PIRG after he looses the election.

Posted by John Bailo | October 14, 2008 7:14 AM

The word is "loses," John. Christ, you're pathetic at everything.

Posted by FAILO | October 14, 2008 7:18 AM

Anyone who says they've never been to Drudge are lying.

Posted by Obvious | October 14, 2008 8:10 AM

The stranger is all about class

Posted by class act | October 14, 2008 8:37 AM

@33, I didn't say I'd never been to Drudge, just that I haven't since 1997 or so. There's no reason to; seriously. It's 2008.

Posted by Just Sayin | October 14, 2008 10:04 AM

While some pundits say that the Bradley Effect is in abeyance Drudge appears to be trying to dredge it back up from the slime. He knows where to find it because he dwells in the same ooze.

Posted by inkweary | October 14, 2008 11:40 AM

isn't that Elizabeth Shue?

This photo marks the first time that Obama has stirred my loins. Extra-credit for that!

Posted by robo | October 14, 2008 12:30 PM

The woman in the photo is my friend the Rev. Angela Zimmann. She's the Democratic precinct captain in the neighborhood where Obama was campaigning when this photo was taken. Her account of this encounter is at

Posted by Erik | October 14, 2008 3:56 PM

The difference between Drudge and Keith Olbermann is that Drudge--like him or not, and I don't--engages in actual journalism, rather than being an entertainer.

As far as the pic goes, it's a nice pic, and not at all anything nasty or menacing about it, and it seems to have come from a thoroughly positive and upbeat event. If Mr Obama doesn't object, and Ms Zimmann doesn't object, then so what? Or do we need to engage in censorship based on what a bunch of yahoos might think?
