A pastor in Pine Bluff has been arrested for raping a 16-year-old girl.Approximately three weeks ago the Arkansas State Police Hot Line notified the Pine Bluff Police Department’s Detective Office of the reported rape of a 16-year-old in Pine Bluff. The investigation revealed enough evidence to support the report as being factual.
Edgar Franklin Jr., 43, was identified as the person responsible. Mr. Franklin is the pastor of New Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.
It amazes me that there are any churches still open after all these pastors get locked up.
You know, the sheer number of these posts really depresses me. And makes me wonder how many cases are out there in other arenas, like youth coaches, teachers, scout leaders etc. Not that I'm saying you have to report them, because that's not what you are trying to do here. But, I'm a mom, I worry about this shit.
Very.Good/Depressing.Point-though the other jobs you mentioned have a lot more background checks I imagine than a volunteer church job.
Well... Presumably he didn't think it was rape... as long at it was missionary and all...
If these were any other institutions with this history, the self righteous fundies would be clamoring to close them down.
