Wait, so it's okay to lie or hide things if you aren't a child? Or not raising one?

Posted by Emily | September 23, 2008 2:33 PM

He was closeted? I had no idea.

Posted by dwight moody | September 23, 2008 2:34 PM

He waited till he could pose with a baby just to freak people out even more!!!!!!

Kathy Griffin is getting hers right now, I hope.

Posted by Non | September 23, 2008 2:35 PM

I find this disgusting as all hell that perez hilton has now become a reliable or at least somewhat reliable source. Besides that good for Clay. As a card carrying member myself I welcome you to the club.

Posted by PFLAG | September 23, 2008 2:42 PM

It's been a total mystery, my care level is off the charts here.

Posted by Chris | September 23, 2008 2:43 PM

Too bad he got fugly before he came out.

Posted by hohoho green giant | September 23, 2008 2:45 PM

who's the egg donor?

Posted by max solomon | September 23, 2008 2:48 PM

Billie Jean King? She's been gay for years.

Posted by NapoleonXIV | September 23, 2008 2:49 PM

Got fugly?!

Posted by Callie | September 23, 2008 2:49 PM

Admirable not to lie any more than he already has, I guess.

His glass closet act made it sound like he thought being gay was the worst thing in the world.

I suppose everyone has to grow up in their own time and he does want to be a good father, so -- okay, I'll give him that.

Posted by whatevernevermind | September 23, 2008 2:49 PM

Remember how during his season of Idol there was a fabricated scandal about him being more-than-friends with whatever cute/young/blond girl was on that year? Ah, memories.

Posted by Aislinn | September 23, 2008 2:53 PM

And he has Sarah Palin glasses.

Posted by Tom | September 23, 2008 2:54 PM

I would say that People has the scoop, being that it's their cover.

Posted by EmilyP | September 23, 2008 2:54 PM

For fuck's sake, FINALLY.

Posted by Patrick Colvin | September 23, 2008 2:54 PM

Awwwww! A cute gayby. Courage takes time sometimes.

Posted by Vince | September 23, 2008 2:54 PM

Not exactly a shocker, but... what's the deal with the baby, then? Who's the mom?

Posted by Julie in Chicago | September 23, 2008 2:56 PM

When I first glanced at the cover I thought, "Jesus - did Palin pump out another kid?"

Posted by Free Lunch | September 23, 2008 2:59 PM

NO! NO! NO! NO! Keep him, I don't want him on the team.

Posted by brian | September 23, 2008 3:00 PM

People's website doesn't have this up yet. Are we sure it's not photoshopped?

Posted by Chris | September 23, 2008 3:02 PM

that's what i thought, chris. it's not true until people magazine says it is.

Posted by scary tyler moore | September 23, 2008 3:05 PM

Liberace,Roy Cohn and now THAT!? I'm with #18...we don't want him!!!!!

Posted by scott in chi-town | September 23, 2008 3:05 PM

Thank you sweet dear new-born baby Jesus! Now I can finally get a decent night sleep.

Posted by monkey | September 23, 2008 3:10 PM

This is so disillusioning.

Posted by inkweary | September 23, 2008 3:15 PM

It's about fucking time. I'm more annoyed at this than anything, I mean... when the whole world thinks you're gay and is okay with it and you repeatedly deny it... then you're kind of a pitiful blob of a man.

Posted by Carollani | September 23, 2008 3:22 PM

I agree about unsurprising. But applying the word "admirable" to anything that this person touches is a bit of a stretch.

Posted by mattymatt | September 23, 2008 3:34 PM

Nothing that lands you on the cover of People magazine and Perez Hilton's website should be considered "admirable".

Posted by David Wright | September 23, 2008 3:45 PM

I too think it is admirable that DJ AM and Travis Barker tried to rid themselves from the music world...thank you! Good luck next time.

Posted by Clay Gaykin | September 23, 2008 3:59 PM

People's website now has the huge banner, urging people to come back at 7am tomorrow to find out al the details on Clay Aiken. I would consider that a confirmation.

Posted by Annie | September 23, 2008 4:05 PM

Nope. I still think he's a dick for lying in the first place.

Posted by Soo | September 23, 2008 4:10 PM

Agreed with Carollani. People thought he was gay, and it wasn't a big deal. He made it a big deal by denying it over and over and being a dick about it.

Now he is cool with it since he as a kid? WTF over?

Posted by Original Monique | September 23, 2008 4:17 PM

And that is one UGLY baby.

Posted by Malcolm in Sydney | September 23, 2008 4:25 PM

What is going to become of all his good, christian fans?

Also, does this mean he really did fist that army dude?

Posted by Mike in MO | September 23, 2008 4:25 PM

Also, didn't Liberacci (howeverthefuckthat's spelled) sue someone for calling him gay? And WIN?

Posted by Mike in MO | September 23, 2008 4:28 PM

Liberace claimed he was straight till the day he died (of AIDS). He even hid the fact that he had AIDS, saying his massive weight loss was from some fad diet.

So at least Clay Aiken isn't quite that pathetic.

Still, I can't work up a whole lot of respect for him being so "brave" to come out, seeing as how he was nearly as obvious as Liberace, and exactly nobody believed his straight act in the first place.

Posted by Reverse Polarity | September 23, 2008 4:52 PM

It will be the only thing he finds interesting about himself much like 99 percent of the gay population does. And he'll talk about it forever. Big whooop, what is he from Wisconsin or something?

Posted by Snoring cuz it's boring | September 23, 2008 5:04 PM

@34: as always, stupid old white women (his main audience) thought he was straight. but they're all dead now, too, so you can't challenge my assertion.

Posted by max solomon | September 23, 2008 5:06 PM

absolutely disgusting. Great, another freakshow that thinks he can raise a kid being a homo.

Posted by St Francis | September 23, 2008 6:04 PM

Wait. Is that Emma Thompson and kl lang's daughter coming out as gay? But they're calling her a dad. Is that a typo? I'm confused...

Posted by AmblerAK | September 23, 2008 7:11 PM

#16- The mother is Clay's fifty-year-old friend and record producer. They used In Vitro Fertilization.

Posted by Monty | September 23, 2008 7:11 PM

Ugly baby? He's cute. You must be gay.

Posted by k | September 23, 2008 7:28 PM

I a not gay but I'd still let him do me if I was or had had enough to drink.

Posted by John Bailo | September 23, 2008 7:45 PM

I am not a fan, but this is good news.
The article is up at People now.
He says he told his mom 4 years ago and she still struggles with it.
I wonder if he'll stay a Southern Baptist, and how much affect it will have on that group. There are plenty of people for whom gay is still not OK.,,20228488,00.html

Posted by chicagogaydude | September 24, 2008 6:05 AM

affect -> effect

Posted by chicagogaydude | September 24, 2008 6:13 AM

Ugh. This is not good news.

Yes, gay people can make excellent parents, but the MOST EXCELLENT parents we can make is when we adopt an unwanted child and raise her or him together in our loving home. When a narcissistic closeted freak decides he wants to splooge out a mini-me into a test tube and THEN (after years of LYING!) come out of the closet, it doesn't do ANYBODY any good.

He hands ammunition to the angry right, he really DOES deprive a child of a two-parent home, he leaves potentially adoptable children in their current situation, and he's still a loser and alone.

It's a sad, pathetic situation, and not one we should celebrate.

Anyone who doesnt' come out by the time they're 18 is a fucking asshole in my book.

Posted by Alan | September 24, 2008 6:54 AM

@44 Do you have as much venom for straight people who don't live up to your standards: never lying, 2-parent household, parenting only adopted children?

And you really think that everybody who doesn't come out at 18 is an asshole? Sticking to celebs, Ian McKellan, Ellen Degeneres, Wilson Cruz, Neil Patrick Harris, Amélie Mauresmo - assholes all?

Posted by chicagogaydude | September 24, 2008 7:17 AM

People who closet themselves do real harm in the real world.

The more people who have the courage to come out when they know the better this world will be.

Yes, I have venom for Clay Aiken.

Not sorry about it.
