Since the HTC Touch Diamond came out, it has been clear... Facets are the new small-radius rounded corners, in all 3-D design (architecture and industrial). You heard it hear first... Or somewhere else first.
Meks is correct. This isn't modern or refreshing, it's imitative. And, not to sound like a broken record or anything, but neither of those photos says anything about how the building works.

This is going to be an unusually cool building for our much (and rightly) maligned downtown skyline.
I don't think the skyline is maligned so much as the individual building's architecture. In fact, we have one of the most celebrated skylines.
This building has potential to be amazing though.
If something's justifiably and demonstrably mediocre, to say so isn't maligning it.

I would not call that building "under construction". The lot has been quiet for MONTHS.
I cant wait for this to be built. We really do have a "dated" look to most of our buildings. I believe they are starting to build this next spring.
looks like the citadel

They may have completed initial demolition to prepare the site, but this project is not yet under construction...
They were supposed to start in late July/early August.
They're not even slated to get the retaining walls in before the beginning of next year.
Oh, how tortured your syntax is, Chaz.
It's going to look really weird next to the Rainier Club and the FMEC building. A good kind of weird, though.
