Oh, yes, please! Liberace was a more amazing cultural figure than Elvis was. Douglas is a godawful choice, though; for one thing, he's about as old as Liberace was when he died.

Anybody else around here been to the Liberace Museum in Vegas? The pianos were my favorite. Oh, and Liberace fans can shop online:

Perhaps a life size cardboard stand-up of Liberace is in someone's future???

I like the horror-show aspect of Michael Douglas. Robin Williams would have been insufferable.

Soderbergh directing means this has potential to be fantastic. However, I'm not sure about Michael Douglas. I've liked Michael Douglas in other things, but I just can't picture him as Liberace. Douglas has a pretty strong voice, and I just can't see him doing Liberace's soft over-the-top nelly voice. He could do the physical part, but whoever does this needs to nail the voice, or it will be all wrong.

Oh, and Robin Williams would have been a terrible choice. Far too manic any hyper.

This is uncomfortably reminiscent of the casting of John Travolta in Hairspray.

But Travolta was great in Hairspray, despite my fears.
