Q and A

posted by on August 6 at 12:56 PM

Honest question: Charles, do you own any other music besides Burial?

Because all music leads up to Burial, everything (Debussy, “Transfigured Night,” Monk, Coltrane, “Enter Evening,” King Tubby, the Black Elegance movement, Joy Division, The Bomb Squad) to this one point, the rest of music is nothing but what will become Burial/Bevan.

Tonight, Skream spins at Nectar.

Thanks for the reply.

I think Slog/line Out has reached critical mass for Burial posts by you. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems excessive.

I was excited to hear Burial, as everyone seemed to be creaming their jeans over it.

Man, am I glad I didn't pay for that C89 crap.

charles, i think you'll dig the new dj /rupture mix, uproot. it's a really nice listen, and should provide excellent fodder for your brand of music philosophy.

The burial lovefest was one of my
"maybe" topics for an letter to the
editor. Dubstep is an interesting
genre du jour, but it's only ground-
breaking now when coupled with say
jungle or more daringly - trance.

The anonymity of burial doesn't make
it all that interesting, i'd say i'm
more inclined to search out the iden-
tity behind fidget-powerhouse "fake
