McCain Hits Back With “Housing Problem”

posted by on August 21 at 15:50 PM

The McCain response ad starts out with a bang. (Literally. The sound effect sounds to me far more explosive than the usual sinister bass beat that accompanies attack commercials.)

But from there on out it feels pretty weak:

The genesis of the controversy—McCain’s seven or eight houses—is so politically combustible that the ad can’t mention it, so that attack on Obama’s “housing problem” seems pretty disconnected. (And old, for anyone who was following the Democratic primaries.) The McCain campaign says it will be airing in “key states.”

McCain is clueless and out of touch vs. Obama's a crook.

But it's big talk for one of the Keating Five. A few shots of McCain on Keating's jet should neutralize this.

The hell? If John McCain were Mr. Squeaky Clean then this might have a chance of hurting Obama. I bet when Obama's camp brings up Keating 5, the McCain camp will be all, but he's a POW!!! Weak old crazy Grampy.

What John McCain doesn't want you to know is that Obama only bought some yard space
(Rezko owned the house next door and Obama wanted a larger yard); Obama did not buy his house from Rezko and the land that was purchased was totally legal and Obama paid market value.

John McCain; grasping for straws and trying to figure out how many houses he owns.

I think it funny that in McCain-Bush land Obama isn't rich and McCain was never tortured.

Pretty funny, "undecided voters" (the only one's that matter) aren't even going to know what the hell this ad is talking about.

When are we going to start hearing about the fact that McCain actually is a crook? How can this not be something that's in the media every single day?

I guess for the same reason that he's getting a pass for being a bigamist adulterer and clearly no longer in his right mind.

And why must Republican presidents be not just puppets, but neurologically-impaired puppets? Is it really that hard for them to find a puppet with a fully-functioning brain who will do their corporate masters' bidding? I mean, they can all be bought, right?

I'm surprised McCain wore his eighth pair of $600 shoes for the commercial.

Cheney seems to have a functioning brain. He also illustrates the problem with having a figurehead who is smart -- he comes off as palpably evil rather than just affably incompetent.

I don't know guys.

If we're talking about who lives in what mansion, the fact that Barack Obama's half-brother is living in a 2X3 meter hut in a slum outside Nairobi where people are getting killed with machetes seems like a more interesting topic.

@11: thanks for your concern. Now, fuck off.

Here in "KEY STATE" Ohio the McCain ad I see most is the ridiculous "Obama's taxes, Obama's TAXES, OBAMA'S TAXES! ECONOMIC DISASTER!" one. The people dumb enough to buy it probably don't vote (yeah I know, keep reaching for that rainbow)

Why hasn't Cindy shared their father's tremendous wealth with her half-sisters Kathleen and Dixie? The cost of living in Arizona is much higher than in Nairobi.
