posted by on July 12 at 11:45 AM

Dear Sub Pop, Happy Birthday! I almost sh*t my pants climbing to the top of the Space Needle with you, but now I love you even more. Yours, Kelly O

Kelly O you are a goddess. How awesome was that to be on top, ON TOP of the Space Needle. Wow. Congrats to all.

Way better than that 12th Man flag.

Congrats Sub Pop. Would LOVE to be at Marymoor this weekend but have the baby and all. Speaking of, with the video soundtrack, is that a Rockabye Baby song? Nirvana is the only Sub Pop alum I can think of who's had their music Glockenspiel-ed out. Didn't recognize the melody in this one.

Never been a Sub Pop fan, but the pics are enough to tell me that this was an awesome assignment. I won't watch the video -- CAN'T watch the video. I'm too much of a fuckin' pussy.

I hate Bush as much as the next person, but what the fuck does that hipster dingleberry have against the American flag?

Loving your country is not the same thing as loving your government.

I loved the part where they saluted! It was so cute! haha. Great video! :)

Believe it or not, Sven, nobody in the United States is required to love it.

(A portion of Americans have sworn an oath to defend the right of others to say they don't love it, but the rest can do whatever.)

Let's get it right this time: I hate my country but find the flag pleasant enough.

Kelly's video made Gawker, double goddess points. See guys sometimes the cross posting goes the other way!

Whoa, Sven, touchy on the patriotism, yo! I think he was kidding. I also think he was Bruce Pavitt, am I right?

Congrats Sub Pop!

How long will the flag be flying? Would like to see it on my way to West Seattle Summer Fest on sunday.

elenchos, I didn't say anyone should be *required* to love America. I'm just tired of the constant drumbeat of anti-patriotism in the hipster left. So it urks me when I see it in a totally non-political context like this one.

But really, John Lennon said it best. "...If you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao, you ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow..."

oh christ, sven's calling out flag-hating hipsters AND quoting the beatles? jesus fuck, i'm going back to bed.
