Architecture L.A. Communism

onDespite all of its utopian talk about “the future society,” “society of knowledge,” “communities [being] organized structures,” and the “dynamic development of our society,” Arcspace’s article failed to recognize the real inspiration of the tower for Coop Himmelb(l)au’s Central Los Angeles Area High School #9:
The Tatlin Tower:
On overcast days, the top of the Tatlin Tower, which never made it into the world (in 1917, the Soviet Union had the desire but not the resources to make it real), was to project international news, important information, empowering slogans on the belly of passing clouds. That is the stuff of my dreams.

Communism, architecture...throw in a naked woman and this will be a perfect post, Charles.
Can you imagine if that was a roller coaster? That would kick ass!
blah blah blah blah blah blah.....did I say blah blah?
This spirit, this brilliance, the beauty and creative energy of the revolution...Stalin starved it, beat it into submission, and where it refused to capitulate, he put two bullets in the back of it's neck.
...or maybe that massive Stalin monument that used to loom over downtown Prague? (The Czechs blew it up after Joe ate the rug.)
I have a cinder block shed out back. I suppose the inspiration for its design should rightly be credited to Soviet-era apartment complexes. Who knew?
That looks way more Endor Shield Bunker than Tatlin.
So, what the fuck is with the (l) in Coop Himmelb(l)au? It makes me want to set the architects on fire.
You're boring when you're asleep too, huh?
Thanks for sharing this Charles. That Rooski tower woulda been super cool!
