Hell yeah! Does this mean I'll finally get to meet Fnarf?

Posted by Hernandez | June 3, 2008 12:28 PM
2

I will go if Fnarf says he'll go. But I'll have luggage, which will be slightly embarrassing, but whatevz.

Posted by Mr. Poe | June 3, 2008 12:31 PM

Belltown?! You might as well have it in Tacoma. What, am I supposed to actually get on a bus for it?

Posted by tsm | June 3, 2008 12:31 PM

@3

I'll be coming from the airport. You have no excuse. AND--You need to hurry up on the HUMP! film if you want my monster cock in it, I'm le leaving soon.

Posted by Mr. Poe | June 3, 2008 12:34 PM

The back room at Shorty's is lovely. There are captain's chairs.

Posted by Paul Constant | June 3, 2008 12:34 PM
6

OK, OK, I'll go. Let me put a couple of drinks in and I'll dance to "Quiet Village", too. And I'm going to make merciless fun of Poe's luggage -- maybe I'll OPEN IT!

I've been meaning to come to one of these, but these are always booked on Great Show nights -- this time, Wolf Eyes is playing High Dive in Fremont that night. :(

One of these days...

@4 - Oh, Poe, great art can't be hurried, particularly when I have conference deadlines. But your monster cock will be sorely missed. Emphasis on "sorely".

Posted by tsm | June 3, 2008 12:41 PM
9

Well, okay, since it's only a short stumble from The Rendezvous - and they've got Galaga.

I thought Mr. Poe always came with baggage...

Amy Kate I LOVE YOU!!!!!!! Thanks for picking Shorty's.

p.s. I think that "every second Thursday" means it happens every other week, not once a month on the second Thursday of the month, is this what you meant?

Posted by PopTart | June 3, 2008 12:42 PM
11

I know there's some sort of snarky/pithy remark to be had from the combination of "luggage" and "Mr Poe's Monster Cock" but I'm still recovering from the appearance of our newest cast member, Ms Chelsea Alvarez-Bell, to think very clearly...

Posted by michael strangeways | June 3, 2008 12:43 PM

@10 -- Obviously, Amy Kate is in a fucking daze...first Chelsea, now this. The meth lab next door to her Section 8 studio must be off-gassing...

It's worth pointing out that, north of Georgetown, Shorty's is the preferred hang out of the most aggressive bicycle punks in the city. Let's see if any of you have the stones to start your "anti bike" rubbish while at Shorty's!

Posted by Gurldoggie | June 3, 2008 12:45 PM
14

I'm not anti-bike, Gurldoggie. None of us are. But you'd have to actually read what we have to say in order to understand that. You admit to running red lights like it's nobody's business. That's where the problem is.

You aren't priviliged because you're on a bike. You have a responsibility just like drivers do.

Everyone has to behave, there.

Just because.

* it's OK, we still love you

Posted by Jubilation T. Cornball | June 3, 2008 1:11 PM
18

Oh really? Here's some of the nice things that "none of us" wrote earlier today in response to a post about a group of bikers being hit by a car.

"That guy can't come to Seattle soon enough."

"What a beautiful picture."

"Too bad he didn't kill more."

"Mr. Poe and I are firing up the Buick as we speak..."

Posted by Gurldoggie | June 3, 2008 1:12 PM
19

I like bicycles, but I hate bicyclists. And I'm always looking for people who are interested in hearing me talk about why.

Posted by elenchos | June 3, 2008 1:12 PM
20

I tried to spell that word earlier today and had a bit of difficulty too.

Fucking fuck.

Posted by It's Mark Mitchell | June 3, 2008 1:16 PM
21

That's called humor, Gurldoggie. I know you don't understand it, but, yeah. You don't understand it.

Posted by Mr. Poe | June 3, 2008 1:17 PM

@14 and 15

@18 -- My lawyers are currently reviewing whether this is a Fair Use of my intellectual property. Stay by your phone, please, as they may soon be calling you for a deposition.

Posted by Jubilation T. Cornball | June 3, 2008 1:18 PM
24

I'll be there.

Posted by Big Sven | June 3, 2008 1:22 PM
25

I would totally support a trip to The Ram at Northgate too.

Posted by Fnarf | June 3, 2008 1:25 PM
26

I might consider stopping in for a bit. I have a feeling Sven and I are much more alike than he realizes.

:)

Posted by Reality Check | June 3, 2008 1:27 PM
27

@Fnarf: You'd drive to Northgate and not take a cab or bus to Capitol Hill? Why must you loathe us so much?

*tear tear*

Posted by Original Monique | June 3, 2008 1:28 PM

Plus we can celebrate Obama's clinching of the nomination together...

Posted by Reality Check | June 3, 2008 1:28 PM

Thanks, PopTart. Fixed.

Posted by Amy Kate Horn | June 3, 2008 1:32 PM

But it is the same night as Greendrinks. What am I supposed to do now?

Posted by JD | June 3, 2008 1:32 PM

note to #1:

Fnarf is a Fnigment of our imagination.

Posted by michael strangeways | June 3, 2008 1:33 PM
32

@27 -- Northgate is also a straight shot on the bus. Hell, it's the same bus, going the other way. I'll do almost anything for you guys -- except transfer.

Posted by Fnarf | June 3, 2008 1:44 PM
33

Michael Strangeways -- in your fnucking dreams, baybee. I'm all real, solid bone all the way through.

Posted by Fnarf | June 3, 2008 1:45 PM
34

@31 Maybe all of Slog is a figment of our imagination. Maybe it's all just a dream and when we awake we'll have to hunt down the Army of the Twelve Monkeys and save the world.

Damn I just gave myself a headache.

Posted by PopTart | June 3, 2008 1:47 PM
35

I'll try to drop by, but I've got movies at 7 and 9 ...

Posted by Will in Seattle | June 3, 2008 1:55 PM

@Fnarf: Touche' sir. I understand.

Posted by Original Monique | June 3, 2008 2:00 PM
37

what else is on the jukebox, fnarf? will you bring the lovely mrs. fnarf? will you cha cha with me to 'quiet village'? do they have any spike jones? perez prado?

elench, honeybuns, i think it's more like you're always looking for people who are interested in hearing you talk. as am i.

This is copied from Shorty's site.

WARNING: persons with coulrophobia should not enter this site or come to Shorty's
coulrophobia: [noun] rare extreme or irrational fear of clowns.

I am guessing this won't be a problem for the Slog crowd. Having endured Will in Seattle and all.

Posted by Zander | June 3, 2008 2:20 PM

Happiness is discovering there's classic arcade and pinball within a block from work. Fuck Ralph's and their constantly raising prices...I'm playing q*bert on my lunch hour.

Posted by harold | June 3, 2008 2:25 PM
40

Does this mean there isn't going to be trivia at THIS Slog Happy?

Posted by Callie | June 3, 2008 2:44 PM
41

The first time I met Zander he was wearing a clown suit.

Or a suit ... they look kind of the same.

Why not clown and arcade trivia?

Posted by Will in Seattle | June 3, 2008 3:06 PM

The back room juke has a ton of old swing stuff on it. Plenty to cha-cha to. I think it's the best only good jukebox in the city, because it doesn't have much rock on it.

Posted by Fnarf | June 3, 2008 3:33 PM
43

Belltown? Lame. But as I'm coming from work anyway, this shouldn't be at all a problem. Whee!

Posted by Abby | June 3, 2008 3:34 PM
44

Slog doesn't like the del tag. That was supposed to read best only good jukebox.

Abby, I want you there so I can say rude things about Arsenal and then have you say much more devastating things about Spurs in return.

Posted by Fnarf | June 3, 2008 4:02 PM
45

Isn't shorty's cash only?

Posted by Bellevue Ave | June 3, 2008 4:11 PM
46

Shorty's is the worst fucking bar in Seattle. If I had to choose between drinking free booze at shorty's and swallowing glass from a communion cup at Mars Hill church....i'd be in the front pew.

I might have a thing against clowns, I don't know.

Posted by Bryce Beamish | June 3, 2008 4:26 PM
47

@45 What is this thing "cash"? I don't understand the word.

Posted by PopTart | June 3, 2008 4:28 PM
48

Lava Lounge is better...

Posted by michael strangeways | June 3, 2008 4:34 PM
49

yes, shorty's is cash only. mars hill church is just down the street, bryce, and with a pissy attitude like that, you can't COME TO SLOG HAPPY HOUR!

Posted by scary tyler moore | June 3, 2008 4:48 PM
50

If only there were banks or ATMs around there. But no; Shorty's is in the middle of a vast, featureless wheat field in the Sand Hills of Nebraska.

Posted by Fnarf | June 3, 2008 4:51 PM
51

This thread is hilarious. I'm glad it's at Shorty's, even though I like Rendezvous much better, because at least Shorty's is better than Smith.

And I'm glad there's no trivia. Not only do I despise losing, but trivia should be a sometimes thing, not an always thing. Moderation, people.

Posted by Aislinn | June 3, 2008 5:04 PM
52

fnarf, there are in fact, very few banks or non fee charging atms around there.

Posted by Bellevue Ave | June 3, 2008 5:05 PM
53

@51 Agree with you about the trivia being a sometimes thing. I suspect with all the bright shiny games and the juke box we'll all be plenty entertained as it is. But the clown thing kinda scares me.

STM, for the love of all that's Slog worthy, show me how to cha-cha, please.

Posted by PopTart | June 3, 2008 5:09 PM
54

BA, there's an ATM in the fucking bar.

You'll pay bar prices for drinks but you whine about a buck or two for the ATM fee? Trust me, if you add the fee in the drinks at Shorty's still cost a LOT less than some other places I could mention.

PopTart, nice and slow, now: one, two, three-and four, one, two, cha-cha cha. Shall I put on a little Dean Martin for you?

Posted by Fnarf | June 3, 2008 5:38 PM
55

hmmm.

i was just reading the comments on dan's post about charging fat people by weight for airline tickets. sho' are a lotta people on slog who don't like the obese.

so maybe i won't go to slog, being an obese person myself. maybe my presence makes people uncomfortable or disgusted, or maybe they're nice to my face and make obscene gestures and laugh behind my back. if i'm harshing anyone's mellow at slog, please let me know and i'll stay home.

Posted by scary tyler moore | June 3, 2008 6:22 PM
56

You're not Obese Tyler Moore, you're Scary Tyler Moore. And anyone whose mellow is so fragile it is susceptible to harshing by the likes of you, m'dear, deserves everything they get. Stuff 'em. I'm pretty fat myself, but I don't let them hatin' blogmenters bother me. You are as welcome as anyone.

Besides, after "Quiet Village" no one's going to be noticing anybody's repulsive characteristics besides my own. You'll be in the clear.

Posted by Fnarf | June 3, 2008 6:59 PM
57

Fnarf, oh I'll be there. And totally prepared to mock Spurs, as I always am (I believe it was a contract I signed when I bought my Arsenal throw blanket).

Posted by Abby | June 3, 2008 7:02 PM
58

scary tyler moore, you owe me a jackhammer on the rocks. If I can find a way to be there, so can you. Plus! I'm going to talk on the topic of: my opinions! You wouldn't miss that, right?

Posted by elenchos | June 3, 2008 7:19 PM
59

Scary Tyler Moore, I'm hoping they won't install a scale at the door and weigh us before entering because I'd be booted as well. You were so nice to me at Slog happy last month, and everyone loves you, so please go and fuck 'em to anybody whose mellow you are harshing.

Posted by PopTart | June 3, 2008 7:26 PM

I look forward to seeing Reality Check and Scary Tyler Moore (as well as everyone else, especially the 'Quah Posse.) SLOG night re-energizes you after a month of ad hominems and regurgitated talking points from comrades and combatants alike.

Amy Kate, bring name tags! Being in MN the last two months, I wouldn't recognize Reality Check from a large bag of 3/4" hex head bolts.

Posted by Big Sven | June 3, 2008 8:09 PM

The bolts are me, Sven.

Posted by Fnarf | June 3, 2008 10:05 PM

@27: I would totally drive a party van from Cap Hill up to Northgate to go to the Ram.
