It's like that show is incapable of being funny. It's always different comedians, often talented ones, but the unfunnyness is always the same.
They can't even be unfunny in more than one way. They're always unfunny in the same way, year after year, decade after decade. Decades! They think of one joke, and they write a sketch where they do the same joke again and again and again for five, seven minutes. Why? Why do they do it? Make them stop. I won't ask to make them funny, for you'd have to be God. Just make them stop.
And for the record, Obama has won not because of his race or sex, but because he has vision and doesn't become a nasty person at the drop of a hat just because it would serve his interest.
@6 I wouldn't vote for a candidate who completely marginalized the value of my demographic either. That's the great thing about Obama; he actually talks about your vote being valuable no matter who you are.
I had to stop watching at 1:45. I swear, any semblance of SNL being funny left with Dana Carvey, maybe Will Ferrell (but jesus is his "oh look i'm doing something wrong" movie franchise is getting old)
Hey! There's no rule that you have to go out every Saturday night, is there? To tell you the truth, it's just gotten too expensive to go out every weekend. Besides, most of the time, it's like being robbed - huge layout, very little return.
I am no Hillary fan (in fact I really dislike her of late), but this sketch, like virtually all the stuff on SNL over the past several years, really sucked. That show is so damn lame these days. I attribute it to Tina Fay, who I understand is the head writer. Every sketch pretty much falls flat on its face. WEAK!!
@25, I haven't found a lick of humor in anything SNL has done for, as elenchos points out, decades. Whether their vapid, jokeless sketches are perceived to be pro- or anti- Clinton makes no difference at all.
The only good sketch I have seen out of them was the cowbell one with Cristoper Walken.
To be fair, you cant really replace, Eddie Murphy, Belushi, S. Martin, Radner and all the 70's and early 80's not ready for prime time players. The show should have ended then.
I'm young enough to have not been allowed to stay up late enough to watch SNL until the mid -'90s, so in the time that I've been watching, it stopped being truly funny about 8 years ago. But of course I've watched older episodes on DVD/Video and I realize the last 20 years haven't exactly been the best. I do think there were some funny skits here and there, but I gave up on regular watching years ago.
People, please. Inconsistency is definitely part of the SNL experience, and they've gone through plenty of dry patches, but the show has actually been pretty funny the last few years. Tina Fey was a huge part of that. And Weekend Update with Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers is great. And Fnarf, Andy Samberg is in fact one of the SNL cast members. He does digital shorts for the show and acts in skits.
Anyway, the best part of this week's show was most definitely My Morning Jacket.

Bwahahaha.
hahahaha this is great. Even as a Hillary supporter I think this is hilarious.
PS: not all Hillary's supporters are racist; I'd say just about as many of Obama's supporters are sexist as Clinton's are racist.
Dang! Doesn't look like she'll be popping up on SNL any time soon.
Happy Mother's Day, Hillary. Do your daughter a favor and quit embarrassing her in front of all her friends.
I haven't watched SNL for a while but the laughter was really stupid, it sounded canned.

@2 "PS: not all Hillary's supporters are racist; I'd say just about as many of Obama's supporters are sexist as Clinton's are racist."
I think a fair share of Obama's supporters are racist, too, just in the opposite direction. He's not getting the black vote by coincidence.
Why can't we all just get along?
Under 2 and 6 stellar analysis it should be pointed out that most, yes most, of Hillary's supporters are sexist.
And for the record, Obama has won not because of his race or sex, but because he has vision and doesn't become a nasty person at the drop of a hat just because it would serve his interest.
Good point @8.
Also, I'm an Obama supporter. I know why he won. I just want to be fair.
@6 I wouldn't vote for a candidate who completely marginalized the value of my demographic either. That's the great thing about Obama; he actually talks about your vote being valuable no matter who you are.
Clip is no longer up there, but it's up here:

It's funny because she IS racist.
thanks Gabe. SNL hates video leaks on YouTube almost as much as Elenchos hates SNL.
Think that's bad? You should watch her latest strategy session
First off, @15, I think that's hysterical--and NOT b/c Hillary = Hitler. I just love the text. So funny.
SNL had a pretty funny (though a tad too long) spoof of The Match Game. Amy Poehler is a hoot and a half!
I had to stop watching at 1:45. I swear, any semblance of SNL being funny left with Dana Carvey, maybe Will Ferrell (but jesus is his "oh look i'm doing something wrong" movie franchise is getting old)
"My husband was the first black president!"
So true. Not often you see SNL quite this damning.
Sadly, Mike is right @8.
Sexism is bad - regardless of which direction.

Way too slow. It would have been funny if they ahd fit those jokes into a 30 second sketch, though.
The popular vote doesn't determine the president, remember?
@15:
Ok, unlike the SNL clip, THAT shit was hilarious!

Odd how a few weeks ago when SNL was fawning over Hillary everyone thought SNL was all edgy and funny. Interesting how those views changed.
BTW, maybe Hillary would not be called racist if she wasn't race baiting; just saying.
@15 With cunts for eyes!
@24: Tina Fey left the show years ago. Find someone else to blame.
Et tu, Amy Poehler?
@25, I haven't found a lick of humor in anything SNL has done for, as elenchos points out, decades. Whether their vapid, jokeless sketches are perceived to be pro- or anti- Clinton makes no difference at all.
SNL died in the 90's.
The only good sketch I have seen out of them was the cowbell one with Cristoper Walken.

I defy all you SNL haters with this masterpiece:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhwbxEfy7fg
You can roughly guess how old someone is by when they think SNL stopped being funny.
Frarf proves his lack of taste in comedy once again!
Please go watch Benny Hill you anglophile you!
Cheers!
"Dick in a Box" proves my point. It's not a SNL cast member, and it's not an SNL sketch -- it's a short movie. Funny? Sure. SNL? Not really.
Poehler does a shitty Clinton. Raising your eyebrows and speaking in a condescending tone won't cut it.

Scared Straight was by far the best sketch from this episode.
