In no way should gay marriage be legalized in Utah! Next thing you know you're going to have guys wanting to legally marry a bunch of underage gir-- oh wait.

Posted by Travis | May 29, 2008 4:36 PM

Confidential to Mr. Savage, the answer is you.

Posted by Mr. Poe | May 29, 2008 4:38 PM

Oh hell no. I want incentive for all those good looking mormon boys to move to California.

Posted by Daddy's Waitin! | May 29, 2008 4:45 PM

The final, pathetic death of the Culture Wars can wait, IMHO. What's really important is why this story hasn't yet shown up on SLOG today.

Will Dan Savage stop the evil Islamofascist Rachael Ray before she throws an atomic Triscuit cracker into the Columbia Tower, murdering thousands in order to quench her insatiable lust for Homemaking Queen supremacy? Quickly, Dan Dare! Time is running out!

Spoogie has six mommies. The fact that two of them are lesbians is irrelevant.

Thanks Slog-tipper Me

Elsewhere on the KUTV front page:

"Video Of Living, Breathing Space Alien Said To Be Authentic A stunning video that supposedly shows a living, breathing space alien -- peering through a window at night -- will be shown to the news media tomorrow."

Clearly we are not dealing with a real news outlet.

Posted by Singer-Ann McGillicutty | May 29, 2008 4:49 PM

Sorry about that, Meks. Correcting now.

Posted by Dan Savage | May 29, 2008 4:53 PM

@8- when I loaded the page, the first four headlines, in order, read:

"Construction Workers Kick And Spray Paint Kitten"

"Sex Abuse Suspect Wanted For Touching Girl At Wal Mart"

"Video Of Living, Breathing Space Alien Said To Be Authentic"

"President Bush Meets LDS Church Leader Before Leaving"

I took it to be a reflection of the state of Utah in general, not the news station per se.

oh man now I've found today's obsession: Vote; erase history, cache' and cookies, vote again. Repeat.

Posted by blun | May 29, 2008 4:58 PM

If the mormons came to my house on a "mission" shirtless and looking like that piece of beefcake I would definitely "listen" to them.

Except, damn, they are like 18 when they go on their missions, aren't they? Nevermind.

I don't think gays should be allowed to marry in Utah. I don't think anyone should be allowed to marry in Utah, or do anything else in that state. I think Utah should be cleared out and made off limits for human habitation.

Posted by Fnarf | May 29, 2008 5:08 PM

Thank you, Dan, for updating the post with that picture of wholesomeness. Next time the Elders come to my door, I'll look at them differently.

Posted by Spoogie | May 29, 2008 5:08 PM

I personally love the teaser headline on that page: "Actor reportedly single again"

So... Onion-ish! Of course I had to click it (who? who? who?). Ah, George Clooney. (Pulled in, hook, line and sinker)

Posted by coffeeboss | May 29, 2008 5:12 PM

Underage gays should not be allowed to marry much older gays in Utah, especially if they have multiple spouses.

I draw the line there.

That said, my youngest sister is living there, and if she (hah) decided to turn gay, I'd just help her get married in BC or CA ...

Posted by Will in Seattle | May 29, 2008 5:13 PM

As long as you block their cookies and are using IE or Firefox, you should be able to vote multiple times. And you should.

Let's hit the mormons in the "morons."

Posted by Wolf | May 29, 2008 5:13 PM

Hey, I gotta go -- but we've moved the poll more than 12 points since we posted it to Slog. If "yes" takes the lead, can someone get a screen grab and email it to me? Thanks!

Posted by Dan Savage | May 29, 2008 5:15 PM

Awesome... We're closing the gap!

Posted by You_Gotta_Be_Kidding_Me | May 29, 2008 5:31 PM

still riveted.

Posted by kyle [TCBITR] | May 29, 2008 5:43 PM

@17-19: do the gays win a prize if they "win" the poll? do you live in utah? don't you think that your tampering with the poll will invalidate any results? learn how to program and save your clicking finger for better uses. can we look forward to more polls from non-seattle locations that we should be fucking around with here on the slog?

Posted by mom | May 29, 2008 5:43 PM

we won.

Posted by You_Gotta_Be_Kidding_Me | May 29, 2008 5:45 PM

don't know how to screen grab, but yes is winning.

Posted by konstantconsumer | May 29, 2008 5:50 PM

yes, no, no, I'm not that bright and oh lordy yes I shur and shittin hope so!

Posted by You_Gotta_Be_Kidding_Me | May 29, 2008 5:52 PM

@21 mom, we/they are just having fun...
can you imagine a conservative mormon voting in Salt Lake City hits the vote button... AND THE SODOMITES ARE WINNING?
I've wasted enough time on this!

Posted by kyle [TCBITR] | May 29, 2008 6:06 PM

@21 - As I cast my 20th or so vote, I thought to myself, "Self, am I reinforcing the idea of a gay conspiracy for those that are already paranoid about it?"

Posted by Mahtli69 | May 29, 2008 6:12 PM

Should gay marriages be legal in Utah?

Yes (54.3%)
No (45.7%)

That's 8:28CDT. You looked like you wanted to kick Tony Well's ass...well, ok, maybe I'm just projecting what I wanted to do to him.

Posted by Ben | May 29, 2008 6:29 PM

where do I get one of those calendars?

Posted by WPRL | May 29, 2008 6:29 PM

i didn't believe the calendar was real, but google reveals that it is, so i've posted the link to the online store for purchase. but what's even more unbelievable is that the website also sells t-shirts that bear the caption ' i heart mormon boys' and they're available in mens sizes..and i'm so gettin one.
oh.. there are also ones that bear the caption ' lots of love' and picture a man shadow figure flanked by six shadow wives and is available in 'celestial white and bringham blue'
what will they think of next ?..

Posted by reverend dr dj riz | May 29, 2008 6:49 PM

wow, reverend. that website is amazing. you can get one of the shirts in "dutch oven brown." that's awesome.

Posted by konstantconsumer | May 29, 2008 7:41 PM

Mormon men have no chest hair?

Posted by Simac | May 29, 2008 7:45 PM

simac, that's what they have the magic underwear for!

Posted by konstantconsumer | May 29, 2008 7:49 PM

err, why

i'm drunk.

Posted by konstantconsumer | May 29, 2008 7:52 PM

Those Mormons sure are smoov

Posted by Shawn Fassett | May 29, 2008 8:27 PM

I love that calendar! Someone got it for my (presumably straight) fiance for Christmas as a joke, and now it's hanging in my laundry room. It brings me endless would gay marriage being approved in Utah.

Posted by Jen | May 29, 2008 9:52 PM

Looking at them is fun, sex with them is fun. Until the sex is over and then it turns into a whiny religious guilt trip.

I have a few interesting stories about Mormon's and out of wedlock sex and few of them end well.

I haven't done a married mormon, but I've done plenty of married men. The cum-freakout is one of the most embarrassing and confusing things I have ever experienced.
