Letter of the Day

posted by on May 12 at 11:04 AM

We get letters…

if you had any balls you would print this but they prob got sucked dry years ago. i love the way you guys replace racism and sexism with a new form of oppression against straight people esp anyone with faith. All you need to do to prove my point is replace the words white man, Christian and straight with Gay in your paper. You seem to believe the cure for racism and sexism is to remove yourselves from the status as victims and use the very same hate against those different than yourselves… guys rely on ppl being too caught up with life to deal with exposing yr BS & bias but if you really think yr foolin a majority of us….just shows how brain dead and dull you are…..FUCK THE STRANGER.

B. Parker

PS As individuals im sure yr all just average ppl but u represent something very creepy…psuedo progressives that rely on fluff and personal extremism re private lifestyle issues to make yr case. The Stranger has absolutely zilch to do with healing or correcting the injustices in this country. So that is why I say FUCK THE STRANGER!

For the record: We do not capitalize the word “gay” in the pages of the Stranger. And while our collective balls are occasionally sucked dry, they quickly re-hydrate—the best evidence, we feel, of intelligent design.

All you need to do is say they won't print it, and they'll print/post it.

Isn't it funny-strange how people who hold something in print or on TV in disdain continue to be drawn to it? If he dislikes L'Étranger, stop reading it.

Posted by Bauhaus | May 12, 2008 11:24 AM

gee, how do you refute a point like that? PS when it says "I'm sure you won't print this" its gotta be a good sign not to bother printing it.

Posted by ZWBush | May 12, 2008 11:24 AM

I mean, of course, he should stop reading it.

Posted by Bauhaus | May 12, 2008 11:26 AM

Yeah, and somebody's holding a gun to your head forcing you to read this stuff too, right. Asswipe. Go read fucking Reader's Digest or something else that doesnt offend your delicate sensibilities.

Posted by Fifty-Two-Eighty | May 12, 2008 11:27 AM

I like to think of it as augmenting racism and sexism, rather than replacing them.

Posted by NapoleonXIV | May 12, 2008 11:27 AM

B. Parker is only trying to say that even though he wrote in his Stranger Personal ad "white man, Christian and straight" and he would like you to replace those words for him so it says "Gay, Gay and Gay." Is that so much to ask?

Posted by elenchos | May 12, 2008 11:28 AM

i wonder exactly how you "oppress" him and other str8t ppl? he doesn't make that clear, does he?

surely it's possible to criticize the stranger in a coherent and persuasive fashion. next time, hozabout printing one of those? it would be more enlightening and challenging. this is just poking fun at a nimrod.

Posted by ellarosa | May 12, 2008 11:31 AM

Isn't funny how someone who rails against people as victims (of racism and sexism) clings so tightly to his own personal victimhood status.

Posted by Sad Comment | May 12, 2008 11:39 AM

Whenever I see this sort of anti-gay vitriol expressed, I assume the ranter is in the closet.

Posted by Tiktok | May 12, 2008 11:45 AM

Further evidence that white, male, heterosexual conservative Christians are the biggest self-victimizing whiners of all.

I wonder if he can't find a job because of all the queer, pagan, liberal women of color who keep on systemically oppressing him. Not to mention misspelling and/or mispronouncing his name.

Posted by Jeff Stevens | May 12, 2008 12:29 PM

He's a nutcase, obviously. And he's wrong about The Stranger's "oppression" of straight people and white people.

But, he's right about how you all treat people of faith.

Just so you know...

Posted by Dan Ravaged | May 12, 2008 12:29 PM

So that is how you spell "zilch" I seriously have never seen it spelled out before.

BTW, B. Parker, you are writing a letter; NOT a text message. Please spell out words like "people" and "your". Thank you!

Posted by Cato the Younger Younger | May 12, 2008 12:34 PM

Gee, I wonder what this Angry White Male's prescription for racial and sexual reconciliation would be? Surely something intended to "level the playing field" because, as everyone knows, we're all equal now and history means nothing.

Posted by shub-negrorath | May 12, 2008 1:05 PM

Note to text message obsessed abbreviators: YR = Your, UR = You're.

Posted by Dougsf | May 12, 2008 1:14 PM

Nothing worse than someone suffering from CVC (Christian Victim Complex). As my late father - a devout Catholic - often observed, maybe they need to bring the lions back. That would show them what a REAL Christian victim is.

And has anyone picked up on their new talking point? It basically goes like this: liberals only want to hear liberal opinions, others opinions are shot down. They bring that up constantly, yet they get that point from shows like Limbaugh and networks like FOX, where they don't even allow opposing voices to be heard.

God, conservatives are dumb.

Posted by Catalina Vel-DuRay | May 12, 2008 1:36 PM

@16, Bring the lions back. FINALLY a real solution. I was actually upset when I watched the show Gladiators on TV: I was hoping the Gladiators were killing off Christians on TV...

Needless to say I was disappointed, very very disappointed.

Posted by Cato the Younger Younger | May 12, 2008 1:49 PM

Booo hoooo I'm a poor oppressed white straight Christian man. The ultimate minority. Oh the strange rubbin salt in my wounds. Ow it hurts, oh it hurts! Where are all the other straight, white, male, Christians?

I feel so alone. *cry*

Posted by SDizzle | May 12, 2008 3:03 PM

Sure, and The Stranger is responsible for the Inquisition and Dan is Torqeamada. Try
as I might, I can't make my mind go back to the days when I was brainwashed this much. As for healing and justice, we'll soon get our chance.

Posted by Vince | May 12, 2008 3:05 PM

Apparently the R and G went on vacation together... make that *Stranger* and *rubbing*

Posted by SDizzle | May 12, 2008 3:07 PM

I hate the phrase "people of faith." Go home, Dori.

Posted by David Williams | May 12, 2008 3:24 PM

I'll gladly back up anyone who works against the capitalization of gay, bi, or deaf. Lesbian is okay, as it's derived from a proper noun.

Posted by Gitai | May 12, 2008 4:38 PM

They started it ...

Hell, The stranger isn't bad. Especially when it tries to come up with "evidence" and these conservative pundits tell stories like the Brothers Grimm

Besides, "liberals" aren't afraid to call themselves on their own BS every so often. We read the onion and lamment on our support of bioethanol, and talk rather tongue and cheek about Bill Clinton.

Posted by OR Matt | May 12, 2008 4:47 PM

#21, who's 'Dori'?

Posted by Ayden | May 12, 2008 5:39 PM

Typical. Another logical fallacy (seriously this is like a trip through Old Fallacy Buffet) hide some legitimate criticisms of the hackwork on here in a nutcase's letter. That'll prove he's wrong!

That will prove they are ALL WRONG.
