RSS icon Comments on Seahawk Arrested on Domestic Violence Charge

Yes, a true journalist runs with unsubstantiated rumors then calls to confirm after the fact.

Nice work.

You better hope this is correct (and that is sad) or you are likely to be hearing from his lawyer.

I am sure this is true. "The Rock" likes the ladies and his lady probably found out about his after hours workouts.

Congrats. You beat the PI and Times to the punch (pun intended).

SLOG: Your source for the Seahawks.

I don't believe it, a football player with an anger and violence problem

now we're sportsblogging!

On the surface this sucks, but remember both Bryce Fisher and Locklear were arrested in years past only find out later that the charges levied against them were either dropped or reduced.

@1: What part of "according to jail records" did you miss?

Posted by goatse | April 21, 2008 12:32 PM

Ugh. Ibiza. Spending your birthday there is is the biggest crime of all.

Posted by Aislinn | April 21, 2008 12:35 PM

I bet the court's sentence will be something like a 15 yard penalty, since the justice system is so notoriously hard on pro athletes ;P

Sad to see this Seahawks lineman stoop low and treat his woman the way he treated AJ Smith.

Posted by Gomez | April 21, 2008 12:35 PM

Everybody settle down, now. Maybe she had it coming to her.

Posted by heywhatsit | April 21, 2008 12:47 PM

@9 - You already have all the details you need to know to suggest that the justice system will go easy on him?

Oh, and who the hell is AJ Smith? Is he the right-fielder for the Seattle SuperSonics? I love the way he bends the puck on his free-throws.

Posted by Mac | April 21, 2008 12:48 PM

he looks drunk in that picture. and he looks like he is about to drunkenly step on someone.

Posted by feom | April 21, 2008 1:04 PM

where are the other dv arrests from last night? when will those be published?

Posted by superyeadon | April 21, 2008 1:26 PM

Pay an individual grotesquely to be grotesquely aggressive and violent.

SHAZAM! I'm so surprised that he is violent!!

Posted by Non | April 21, 2008 1:41 PM

That's why we love football!

Posted by Gurldoggie | April 21, 2008 2:36 PM

I thought "pro football player" and "domestic violence assault" were coterminous. I'll bet he either is, or is about to become, a Super-Christian as well.

Posted by Fnarf | April 21, 2008 2:56 PM

i thought all pro sports athletes were supposed to decamp for Orlando in the off season.

Posted by max solomon | April 21, 2008 3:45 PM

#4, Modest Mouse and The Shins take umbrage at the idea only jocks can beat women.

Posted by Sager Bombs | April 21, 2008 4:16 PM

@9 using the term "his woman" is objectifying. She is not his possession.
Next time try a more dignified term, such as "his baby momma".

Posted by Snarky | April 21, 2008 4:21 PM

Nice work on getting the mention on Mazel tov Jonah, you've hit the big time.

Posted by Huffy | April 21, 2008 4:29 PM

What do you tell Rocky's girlfriend with the two black eyes?

Nothing. She's been told twice.

What's the first thing Rocky's girlfriend does when she gets home from the domestic violence shelter?

The dishes if she's smart.

Posted by Shelter Worker | April 21, 2008 6:09 PM

Gomez - real men don't hit women for any reason. It is spineles.

Huffy - jokes like that create an environment that allows Gomez make the dumba$$ comments that he made.

josh bomb - charges are often dropped out of fear of further abuse - not because they weren't true. Victims of abuse generally go into survival mode and make bad decisions out of fear. That is one of the many ways that the cycle of abuse continues.

It is time that men stop hitting women PERIOD. Anything less than that is unacceptable.
