The Ladies Joey Arias at The Triple Door

onJoey Arias channelling Billie Holiday in Strange Fruit in the warm and cozy theater of The Triple Door last night was nothing short of amazing. Klaus Nomi played between sets and The Swedish Housewife opened the night with stories of a Seattle past, when Joey had green hair, and The Vogue was still on First Avenue…
The show ended with two encores, and Joey sticking her tongue in the mouth of the house photographer. All I can say is wow.

And you missed SLOG Happy for - THIS?
I am shocked, SHOCKED!
Klaus Nomi played between sets. Didn't he die about 20 years ago?
So lovely. The shout out to that "old drunk" Steve Wells was sweet. Speaking of Uncle Steve's former ways, lots of barfly chatter on the audio - poor Ari must've got standing room in back by the gin hoses. Thanks for posting this up!
If that's a she, I'm a can of pickled beets.
If I woke up next to that in the morning I would have to kill myself several times.

Joey played a few shows back then at ReBar along with friends he had in Seattle. He also played many shows in Vancouver Canada at Graceland along with John Sex and Lady Bunny. I did all the lighting and sets for the stage when he preformed so it was fun to work with him. He was fun to hang out with. Did not realize he was in Seattle, too bad I would have gone to see him.
It was so great to see so many people out that I haven't seen in years -- Michael Coy, Tim Siciliano, Steve Wells, Parris, Grady --
It was like a night at Rebar in the olden days, when everyone you knew lived at the Rivoli.
Except that those of us who survived are mysteriously middle-aged now.
I really wish I could have gone to this - why o why on a Thursday? :drama:
I saw a show with Joey Arias, John Sex, and Phoebe Legere at a club in Philadelphia in 1988 - right after Mondo New York came out. It was mind-blowing to my 18-year-old self.

well now I really feel like I missed something would have been fun to see him again and a few of the people you mentioned
Yes Middle age is mysterious, but fun.
It was a great show and it is good to see performers who have worked hard and paid their dues rewarded by being able to command a swankier venue. That goes for us in the audience too!
