Teh Internets Gawking

onGawker founder Nick Denton, who just two years ago would probably have been referred to as ‘genius Gawker founder Nick Denton,’ sold Idolator, Gridskipper, and Wonkette to different buyers. The really good news is that Wonkette, which was the only Gawker media site that I still read regularly (with occasional visits to Jezebel) is being sold to editor Ken Layne. It should be even better now. They are not being replaced with any new Gawker sites.

I'm sad to see them go, but "selling" the three off might preserve his genius label. After all, he's still making millions and paying writers, which is not exactly common in the world o' weblogs.
The gawker label still has a number of incredibaly strong group blogs going. In particular I'm thinking of Consumerist and Kotaku.
I read Jezebel religiously, but I've been getting into io9 (sci-fi) recently as well. My problem with most gawker blogs is the insane misogyny that sprouts up at the drop of the hat.
wonder how much cross-posting is done between current buzznet sites, and how much more will be done now?
Denton earned my undying antipathy when he axed Screenhead a few years back. ROAR!
That's great news for Ken Layne, although Wonkette was never quite the same without AMC.
Consumerist is depressing as hell. Not that I disagree with their point that corporations are out to get me but having all of it in one spot like that just drags me down.
Small doses only.
@3,
Which ones? I've found that regular Gawker and Jezebel, for obvious reasons, aren't all that misogynist. At least they're a hell of a lot less misogynist than Slog comments.
