Patrick Swayze Might Be Dying

posted by on March 5 at 9:51 AM

Love him or hate him, you can’t deny that this is might be sad news.

Swayze, 55, has been sick with the disease since he was diagnosed in late January with pancreatic cancer. The cancer has since spread to other organs and now the actor/dancer is dying.

Update: Transworld got this from the National Enquirer, so who knows if it’s true. Sorry.

Actor/dancer. LOL. Sad and everything, but: LOL.

55 is too young to go for anyone. I will miss Swayze's cheese. Sounds like we need to have a Red Dawn / Point Break movie night.

Posted by flash gordon | March 5, 2008 9:58 AM

Jennifer Grey is laughing her ass off.

Red Dawn wasn't cheesy, yo. That shit is arguably on the top 100 movies of all time.

I hope that his pleated slacks/tight black t shirt combo that he wears in roadhouse, dirty dancing and dirty dancing 2: havanna nights is put in enclosed tempered glass and displayed prominently at Hard Rock Cafe, Beirut.

Nobody puts Vida Boheme in a corner!

uh, this is from THE ENQUIRER...there has been NO confirmation from Swayze or any reputable source.

Posted by michael strangeways | March 5, 2008 10:13 AM

Beware, un-pc humor ahead:

He should rip out that cancer with his bare hands like he ripped that guy's throat out in Roadhouse.

hmmm...still not believing it. this was first posted in the enquirer.

Posted by matty yeswas | March 5, 2008 10:16 AM

@7 - Agreed. Are there any reputable sources that are running this story?

Posted by Hernandez | March 5, 2008 10:16 AM

Swayze's sleazy performance in Donnie Darko indicated a willingness to both transcend and take the piss out of his '80s persona. Kudos to Richard Kelley for casting him; curses to the Fates for denying him further opportunities to prove that he was more than a punchline on The Late Show...although, to be fair, Conan O'Brien's series of Dirty Dancing spoofs were almost as affectionate as they were hilarious ("No one puts Baby in a corner!").

Wasn't the Enquirer the first to bust out Owen Wilson's pathetic suicide attempt? Or Farrah Fawcett for having cancer?

Posted by pencil riot | March 5, 2008 10:19 AM

Sure, @10 - TMZ. Hee hee. But it looks like this is for real. And I can't fucking believe that I'm actually in agreement with Poe on something, but yes, Red Dawn is a very, very good movie.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most painful and horrifying cancers to die of. If it is true, my sympathies go out to him and his family. No one should go out that way.

Posted by Carollani | March 5, 2008 10:58 AM

Red Dawn is fun, but it is pretty shitty.

Posted by Rotten666 | March 5, 2008 11:24 AM

Why in the hell is "Too Julie Newmar, Thanks for Everything, Wong Foo" a BAD movie?!

Fooooooooooooor shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame Ari

And I hope this story isn't true :(

Posted by darek | March 5, 2008 11:38 AM

My grandfather died of pancreatic cancer. It's a shitty, shitty way to die.

Posted by Greg | March 5, 2008 12:14 PM

You can't believe a word the Enquirer says...they've been trying to convince the world for years that Kevin Spacey, John Travolta, Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zac Efron and Chace Crawford are GAY and everybody knows that that is NOT true...

Posted by michael strangeways | March 5, 2008 12:23 PM

The National Enquirer is a bad enough source, but what the hell is TransWorldNews?

Posted by duh | March 5, 2008 1:23 PM

Sounds like more work for Whoopi Goldberg.

Posted by NapoleonXIV | March 5, 2008 1:28 PM

Is there a "Roadhouse" curse?

Posted by ecce homo | March 5, 2008 1:46 PM

Let's just say the enquirer is MORE reliable than your typical tabloid. The substance they put in there isn't usually AS outrageous and slanderous as the ... let's say ... the star ... my mother subscribes to it. Most of the rag is basically strange stories from the heartland, the rest is well ... let's say they don't step to far.

Who knows, Patrick Swayze might have pancreatic cancer. Has he done anything at all lately ... bueler
bueler ... bueler ...

Agreed with Carollani and Greg: my great-grandmother died of pancreatic cancer. It was "fast" (months), but it was awful.

Posted by Aislinn | March 5, 2008 2:08 PM

His publicist confirmed that he has pancreatic cancer. And that he may only have weeks to live.

Posted by Elizabeth | March 5, 2008 2:08 PM

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actor and dancer Patrick Swayze, star of such hit films as "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost," has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer but is responding well to treatment, his publicist said on Wednesday.

The 55-year-old performer was working during his treatments, publicist Annett Wolf said, dismissing reports in the tabloid media that portrayed him in grave condition with only weeks to live.
