Movin’ On

posted by on February 26 at 16:33 PM

In case you don’t have a magnifying glass handy, that sign in the far-off window partially reads “Coming Soon/Twice Sold Tales.” They’re having a moving sale in their present location at the moment because their building is going to be torn down and replaced by a Sound Transit station, and they’ll be in their new location, at Harvard and Denny, “soon.” We’ll have word from Twice Sold Tales, especially about how they’re planning to spruce up the new space, in the coming days.

Thanks to Slog tipper-and-photo-taker Brian.

This is going to be great. I can't wait.

Isn't their old building a fixture of Capitol Hill and worthy of historic preservation? Please, somebody start a petition! Wait, you mean businesses can move without people throwing hissy-fits?

Ugh... looks like one could also buy twice-sold crack cocaine out front.

If you don't understand historic preservation, you shouldn't ask dumb questions. That's why you are a loser.

I'm excited about one of the Link stations being right smack dab in the middle of the Hill... even if it's gonna take many, many years for the line to come up.

Have the cats approved of all this?

Posted by Zander | February 26, 2008 4:53 PM

That sign says something like "the owner reserves the right to change her mind" as well. Is that still true, or is this pretty much a done deal?

Posted by Aislinn | February 26, 2008 4:53 PM

does jamie's craziness fit into just one moving box?

Posted by stinkbug | February 26, 2008 5:34 PM

Does sprucing up include deodorizor?

Posted by Andrew | February 26, 2008 5:37 PM

Big love to Paul Constant for getting the word out about the move and the sale. And thank you for your updates about readings and events at bookstores around town. Books are cool and IMHO booknerds are sexxy bee-atches.

This sign has been up for something like a month and a half. I didn't even think this was least for anyone who lives on/near that block.

I like how they had boarded up the apartment building at 10th and Denny already ...

Sound Transit has government powers of condemnation - it's a done deal.

Most of us will be dead by the time this gets going anyway.

Sprucing up includes cleaning your cats' litter boxes! Please quit abusing your cats, Twice Sold Tales, and clean your litter boxes!

Posted by Catman | February 26, 2008 6:50 PM

Better yet, how about NO CATS in place of business? It's gross. Some people are allergic, and even if you're not, it's GROSS. Mentally-ill gross.

I can't beleive Sound Transit got away with this construction technique and staging. Remember when Cal Anderson was under construction? It going to be like that right on Broadway.

OMG, Fnarf U R soooo right on, kitties are soooo GROSS not to mention they are one of Satans' minions. Crazy people skeeve me out 2. ewwww lets ban them both! U know what they say about cleanliness.

no one has mentioned that half-price books is half a block away from the new location... and they're cheaper, they sell music, there isn't the reek of obese matty-coated cats, they sell 50-cent playboys, they let you use their bathrooms...

That is a really cool photo.

I LOVE Jamie's cats, all of them, and I miss the late great Nesbitt.

Jamie's cats await you in hell, Fnarf. Don't say you haven't been warned. };->

I hear they have cat traps installed at all the nearby parks like Cal Anderson, just to replace any cats lost in the move.

Posted by Will in Seattle | February 27, 2008 12:02 AM

hill people are funny.

Posted by max solomon | February 27, 2008 9:13 AM

Fnarf: what do you mean by "mentally-ill gross"??? And store cats are awesome!

Posted by Kristin | February 27, 2008 11:07 AM

You mean there are people who still have cats instead of dogs in Seattle?

Thank God.
