How Was It? The Ski Fever and Snowboard Show
posted by November 15 at 14:23 PM
onOn October 27th, there was a big ski and snowboard expo down at Qwest Event Center. I went to go see what people were buying, how much they were spending, and well, if some sort of rivalry exists between the snowboarders and the skiers…
Also, the beginning of this video is a bit of footage from the 2nd Annual Downtown Throwdown. Amazing. They covered the steps of Qwest Center with fake snow, and “rail-jammed” away. That concrete looked hard. I can’t believe no one broke any bones. This event was put on locals Snowboy Productions. They have a gorgeous video for The Summit at Snoqualmie HERE. You can also watch more of the Downtown Throwdown, in yet another video, HERE.

All I'm sayin' is, in this weeks paper, to the left of Jen's piece, with all the faces...yeah.
2nr row, 2nd dude (going left to right) = hot. Hot. Hothothothot.
And snowboarding will always be cooler than skiing.
"That's your fault?!?!?"
priceless!
The show was decent - possibly better than previous years, but you've got to know what you're getting into. I bought gloves but went with a friend who got probably $400 of stuff.
As for the fake snow, a couple years ago they premiered a snowboarding movie at the Showbox and set up a ramp and rail along with fake snow in the middle of 2nd ave... it's been done before!
The rivalry between skiiers and snowboarders? It's like the Mac/PC or Import/Domestic holy wars - it makes little sense and it will never end. And skiiers can get the eff outta my way!
#2 - right?! All-over prints must be stopped!
Also - that same guy from Gravis told me he watched a Mom drop $2,300 that day. Head-to-toe snowboarding gear for her two sons. Holy cripes. I think I'm stuck with my ole plastic saucer sled again this year...
what?!?! did she buy chanel snow gear?
1200 is way too much.
but whatever, it'll be sooooo worth it when your on the snow....
Chanel all-over print gear!
Doesn't anybody ski in jeans anymore? Street clothes? The same parka you wear to school?
that reminds me - tune up time.
@7
No. You should still look good even though you're somewhat of a puff.
Who says I don't look good in street clothes? If I went skiing today I'd wear a suit and tie just to be contrary.
See, that would be hot. Do that.
I don't ski. Why am I even commenting on this post?
I don't know. I don't even snowboard anymore. Bad accident. We're losers.
haha you have to watch it to the end "actually, i'm a toboganer"
