Politics $400,000 Blowjob

onBob Allen—the GOP state rep in Florida that was arrested after offering an undercover cop $20 and a blowjob in a public toilet—was convicted of solicitation last week, sentenced to six month’s probation and fined $250. Allen has now resigned from the Florida state house, much to the delight of his GOP colleagues, and a special election has to be held to pick his replacement. And guess what? It’s going to cost the state $400,000 to hold that special election. “That’s one expensive blowjob,” says Towleroad.
Well, technically no one got blown—so I’d describe it as one expensive bloverture.
But knowing how much it would cost to replace Allen, the GOP might have helped to reestablish its fiscal-conservative bona fides by encouraging Allen to serve out the rest of his term, a la Larry Craig.
These are happening so frequently it's hard to keep a track of who did what, when (and where and how).
Dan i think you need to set up your own smoking gun style website for all the haggards, Allens and Craigs...
The Pole Smoking Gun?
@ 2: YES!!!! You need a new project...
You know, I once bought this one guy dinner and went home horny--so I know how Florida feels. Florida, I feel your pain.
We should spare no expense in rooting out the homosexual menace in our government.
Mean people suck.
Someone beat me to it. Upon reading this I *immediately* thought that Dan should have a little scorecard of Republi-con hypocrites. It is making me dizzy trying to to keep them all, um, straight.
Nice people swallow.
@6: wouldn't that be "mean people want to suck but get caught by undercover cops?"
HA HA! Stupid Bible Molester!
I keep hoping these guys are actually straight guys who think getting blow jobs from guys is safer than hiring prostitutes, that is, that a gay guy in a toilet isn't going to try and blackmail them or go to the press.
Allen wanted to give the blowjob, Alan, not get it.
The Pole Smoking Gun?
Well done, sir. Well done.
Some people do keep track of these guys - including republican comments that its only so much whining. We aren't whining - we think its funny. My entire blog is about watching breeders and the crazy things they do... including categories such as the "wall of shame" for any politician or public figure who has publicly decried something they themselves were caught doing. Its been a great year for our site - lots of fodder! Http://www.breederwatch.com
