Larry Craig: Not Gay!

posted by on August 28 at 13:51 PM

Larry Craig is not now, and never has been, gay. So playing footsie with strange men in public restrooms is now considered straight. Or straight-identified.

Please make a note of it.

Please please please... Someone who he has hooked up with PLEASE come forward!

Well, that certainly settles it.

Remember kids, take a small stance when having a BM in a public rest room, lest you get misinterpreted.

Posted by Big_K | August 28, 2007 1:58 PM

is he going to come with a certificate that proves that he is in fact 100% hetero?

i'm just saying the media won't believe him until his 'overseers' issue paperwork on the matter

Posted by vooodooo84 | August 28, 2007 1:59 PM

and make sure that when reaching for the TP that your wedding band does not show beneath the divider

Posted by vooodooo84 | August 28, 2007 2:01 PM

The sad part is, he probably really believes that he isn't "gay".

He got it up for a girl and had a few children!

The bathroom thing, although true, may to him just register as a thrill or fetish or something...not GAY. Not flag flying, lithp speaking, GAY!

That plus the power of denial....

Posted by Lake | August 28, 2007 2:03 PM

Larry, quick! Go shoot your truck with a shotgun. That's the only way out of this.

Posted by Mr. Poe | August 28, 2007 2:04 PM

Lake @5:

Craig has no biological children. His wife had three kids when they married and he adopted.

Do who I say, not who I do.

Posted by Thom | August 28, 2007 2:13 PM

Not great for the R's. It would've been much better if he would've resigned and they could've moved on. Now they've got a fight on their hands and a white knuckler to see if he runs for re-election. This dude has been playing this game his whole life and he thinks he can beat it if he just raises the stakes.

D@ 7

Innnnnnnnnnnte-desting. Thanks for the information

Posted by Lake | August 28, 2007 2:16 PM

It's typical republican: Fredo is doing a great job, "Heckuva job, Brownie," Bush is smart, we're going to win in Iraq, trying to get a blowjob in an airport bathroom doesn't make you gay (nor does snorting meth and sucking cock, for that matter . . .)

It took a blowjob to take Clinton down. I will take one for the team and happily blow any and all closeted republicans (no matter how fat and icky) and get a picture, to help the cause.

Posted by Dean P | August 28, 2007 2:16 PM

It turns out that Idaho's governor is named C.L. "Butch" Otter.
Is Idaho secretly the gayest state in the union?

Posted by Paul Constant | August 28, 2007 2:20 PM

Larry Craig to rehab in 3...2...1...

Posted by Brad | August 28, 2007 2:25 PM

It hurts so much to laugh so hard.

Dare I say, tradition is not the story of what happened but more so what is SUPPOSED to have happened. If you want to beleive a lie so desperately, than maybe it is true ...

Posted by OR Matt | August 28, 2007 2:30 PM

I don't think he's gay - he's just one of millions of straight men who occasionally have sex with men in public restrooms. Perhaps a new category is in order. Seems like "stray" would do fine.
He's "stray."

Posted by LG | August 28, 2007 2:33 PM

Is it wrong of me to have peed a little with excitement?

Posted by It's Mark Mitchell | August 28, 2007 2:39 PM

"Stray." Brilliant.

Posted by Levislade | August 28, 2007 2:39 PM

This is actually a good development, as he'll continue to hang around and be another albatross around the Republicans' necks. God knows those crazy, hypocritical, hateful, pathological liars are getting booted out of office if not out of the closet.

The Idaho Gov would have appointed even more psycho and right-wing if Craig had resigned.

Posted by Original Andrew | August 28, 2007 2:40 PM

just like the working class london strays in nathan barley...

Posted by dan ashcroft | August 28, 2007 2:41 PM

@12... interesting thought. Who would you blow (or, who would you have blown)if it meant they would get taken down politically?

Santorum? W? Cheney? God. I guess I would do W and Cheney, if it meant they would resign (particulary if it had been, say, in 2001-02). Jesus. I feel dirty now. Blech...

Posted by Julie | August 28, 2007 2:43 PM

@ 13:

"Is Idaho secretly the gayest state in the union?"

Shaped the way it is, can there be any doubt?

Posted by COMTE | August 28, 2007 2:45 PM

I'd blow W if I was sure it would result in him being removed from office. Americans would sing my praises for years. They would build statues of me.

Posted by Thumb | August 28, 2007 2:48 PM

Maybe I'm just looking for things to be angry about... but what's pissed me off the MOST is the apparent 'accepted truth' that the bad thing about all of this is that he's GAY.

And that's NOT it!! Being gay is not evil. Lying to your spouse and to your constituents may be evil. Seeking sex in a public restroom shows a serious lack of common sense for a congressman.

Oh, geez - I could almost forgive him if he hadn't stood up so strongly AGAINST gay rights...

Posted by Ayden | August 28, 2007 2:48 PM

@16: Win. I'm using that.

Posted by Gloria | August 28, 2007 2:52 PM

we had a reaction to "bullcrap" back in my old hometown of lewiston: we'd yell, "my foot!"

Posted by andy niable, proud idahomosexual | August 28, 2007 2:52 PM

Doesn't he know that the reason jeebus created Glory Holes is to avoid the need for a wide stance.

Is this closet case up for re erection?

Posted by Jack Jett | August 28, 2007 2:58 PM

@1... i think three people did come forward. they did so anonymously, however, so... ???

Posted by infrequent | August 28, 2007 2:58 PM

and the other Senator from Idaho is:

Posted by michael strangeways | August 28, 2007 3:01 PM

oh, and i've known many a gay man who loves to suck off a "stray" man... there is something about it that some find more exciting. strays are necessary for this.

Posted by infrequent | August 28, 2007 3:02 PM

The ignorant goi and their leaders make things too easy for us! Distracted goi listen to media blather about an incident in an Idaho restroom while their sons and daughters die in a war to make Israel safer.

It is Tikkum Olam fill up newspaper columns with this kind of nonsense while a war explodes in the Middle East. Anything to distract the goi and their shiksa.

The Kabbalah teaches us that man-woman gay-straight all flows from the ONENESS of Keter. As Jews we may experience all of sexuality and sensuality as a fluid continuum and move beyond rigidity towards the dissonance that is the song of creation.

But the ignorant goi must be forced to cling to their man-woman, gay-straight binary. Any man who had sex with another man is completely gay. No other possibility can be allowed for the goi.

Posted by Issur | August 28, 2007 3:13 PM

Wow. I'm still marveling over the word "stray." Awesome word selection there, LG.

Posted by arduous | August 28, 2007 3:13 PM

He takes a narrrow stance on immigration and firm stance against abortion, and strong stance on defense but it is the wide stance for which he will be remembered.

Posted by inkweary | August 28, 2007 3:18 PM

Fully agree with everyone's praise for LG's coinage of "stray" in #16. Hey Savage, you listening? I think this word may be this year's "santorum" to describe Haggard, Craig, et. al.

Posted by Adam | August 28, 2007 3:19 PM

And he supports a big tent, too!

Posted by NapoleonXIV | August 28, 2007 3:19 PM

Tucker Carlson just did a despicable routine on MSNBC where he claimed that the GOP has always embraced gay men like Larry Craig and that this incident is proof that the Democrats are viciously homophobic and hypocrites. WTF?! Tucker Carlson is one twisted slimebag.

Posted by Dave Coffman | August 28, 2007 3:30 PM

I bet Tucker Carlson is gay.

Posted by monkey | August 28, 2007 3:30 PM

I keep saying, at every major GOP event, we need queers walking around with hidden cameras implanted in their "W Forever!" buttons. We could empty out the GOP in a matter of days.

Posted by Gitai | August 28, 2007 3:33 PM

It's time to announce zero-tolerance for gay-hating Republicans who themselves are gay.

No more closets.

Posted by Will in Seattle | August 28, 2007 3:54 PM

Maybe the "I'm not gay" goes along with an unspoken "...but I am bisexual." And couldn't an openly bi politician truly bridge the gap and bring everyone together?

Posted by Jason Josephes | August 28, 2007 4:12 PM

I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don't have a wide stance like such as.

Posted by Jimmy Legs | August 28, 2007 4:17 PM

Ha ha... the news scroll at the bottom of the graphic says... "in hindsight".

Posted by Valerie | August 28, 2007 4:29 PM

Just one question:

How does one assume a "wide stance" while on the pot with one's trousers around one's ankles?

Or do Republicans just shit their drawers as a matter of course?

Posted by LT L | August 28, 2007 4:33 PM

Well, I guess poor old Larry just can't be cured of his "life choice" attraction to the same sex! As if he hasn't had enough warnings and wake up calls. It's just a shame he can't just "come out" and embrace his own sexual orientation instead bashing everyone else for not following the extreme religious right-wing Republican agenda.

Sounds like he married his poor ole wife (a single mom at the time) because he was under "gay scrutiny" back in the 1980's. Talk about another Rock Hudson closet case story! I feel bad for her, she has SUCH blinders on...

As for the rest of you Repubs, "People who live in glass houses, should NOT throw stones!" Your entire party is going to lose in 2008 because of the comedies of incompetence and hypocracy such as this...

It's PAY BACK time, Bushy!

Posted by IP Dailey | August 28, 2007 4:54 PM

Sorry, this doesn't really matter. Sure, the people who elected him may not be happy with him, but they will continue electing republicans BECAUSE THEY STILL REALLY REALLY WANT TO BELIEVE THE LIES.

The best we can get is fucking hilarious laugh!

Posted by OR Matt | August 28, 2007 5:34 PM

I'm a Minnesotan, and the local news is reporting airport personnel noting that it is a specific bathroom at MSP that is used for these hook ups.

Now, MSP is a big place. I wonder what gate Craig arrived in and departed from, and whether either of those were near the bathroom in question. If it's way out of the way, how would he explain that?

Posted by gex | August 28, 2007 5:34 PM

Fuckin' hypocrite! Goddamn this is getting old. Come out already and be suprised at home many will support you. Stop hiding--people always find out.

Posted by tlcinak | August 28, 2007 5:44 PM

I am a flaming radical progressive liberal, and I'm gonna stick up for an elected Republican here. Leave him alone! Sure, he did a misdemeanor, but what he did shouldn't be illegal!

I'm happy to see the Repubs trip all over their stupid rules and slide down into oblivion, but I'm not gonna call for this guy's resignation.

Who cares if he's gay? is that wrong? I don't understand why Democrats have been so vocal on this issue. Do we only like gay Democrats? Sheesh. We don't need a Senate ethics committee for THIS.

What I think the man has done wrong is act Republican all his life and hide being gay.

Posted by Martica | August 28, 2007 6:02 PM

I heard his most recent comments. "I did not have sexual relations with that man, Mr. Lewinsky.
It's okay in the Oval office, but not the Airport in Minneapolis.
Another thing, I've driven home with too much alcohol in my system in past. Because I've done something wrong, doesn't mean I can't vote FOR drunk driving laws. Craig is gay. He also believes his behavior is wrong.
Sorry Will in Seattle, we don't hate you. You can boof to your hearts delight. We just disapprove. You hate us.

Posted by libocrat | August 28, 2007 8:25 PM

I have not been impressed with Larry Craig since his days as a barber shop quartet senator. He was on the today show years ago travelling with other senators to political functions singing in this group. It made me mad that are state tax money was paying him to travel around and sing. He also lead the rally cry to impeach Clinton for his infidelity and immorality as craig put it. he has to be the biggest hypocrite ever.

Posted by Todd Weston | August 28, 2007 10:21 PM

@54; He is way up on the list, at any rate.

@53;You have admitted that you have driven home while too drunk to drive and that you might vote to enforce stricter laws against driving under the influence of alcohol. That is all well and good, but Larry Craig denies that he ever was gay, which makes him an incredibly bad man since he, apparently, intends to continue to vote against gay rights laws while continuing to be a closeted gay man pretending to be straight (a la Ted Haggard).

I'll be at Reagan National AIrport on Friday, Stall number 3, on the second leval. Wear stockings and bring some lube.

A stright felloe Senator

Posted by SuckMe | August 29, 2007 12:00 AM

Anyone else remember the skit on the Ali G show where Bruno is asking that fundamentalist if was gay? "So there was this one time I had sex with my beautiful Brazillian boyfriend, and when I was all done, I wanted to have sex with him again. You think I might be gay?"

Posted by OR Matt | August 29, 2007 9:38 AM

@44 - i think JJ parsed the Republicant speech for us. He's bi and a slut.

Well, that explains it!

Posted by Will in Seattle | August 29, 2007 10:03 AM

"Santorum? W? Cheney? God. I guess I would do W and Cheney, if it meant they would resign (particulary if it had been, say, in 2001-02). Jesus. I feel dirty now. Blech..."

If it makes you feel better, I think I could blow a neo-con or two (maybe even Dubya) if it would save my country. I would make that sacrifice for America.

Posted by Jo | August 29, 2007 3:23 PM

Dick Cheney is gay, that's how his daughter ended up a lesbian... George Bush is incompetent, that's how he ended up President!

Posted by George Bushandcheneysuck | August 29, 2007 6:52 PM

Posted by John from California | August 30, 2007 12:00 PM

Sen. Craig, you suck (literally). Not only do you sell out your constituents in support of amnesty for illegal aliens, you are also queer!!

Posted by Mark M | August 30, 2007 9:05 PM

Less than a year following his weird 1982 denial of sex with Congressional pages, the then 38-year old bachelor was married.
One thing I've never seen reported. There are websites that give 'suggestions' on finding sex with men. Where was this bathroom in the airport? Was it near his arrival or departure gates? Or did he have to go out of his way to find it?

Posted by Allen | September 1, 2007 6:49 AM

Do you guys really condemn this guy because he's gay? What's with all the hate. So he's a hypocrite, but I don't see people flaming the senator for that, as much as the fact he might be homosexual.

Seriously, where is the base for this kind of jeering and hatred for being gay? :/ What is this the 50's? Get over it.
