Sports Fucking Cubs Hitting

onOr lack thereof. OK, this isn’t exactly live-blogging the NFC Seahawks-Bears matchups, but I am at Bruno’s after the Mariners just beat the Cubs in 13 innings. I was involved in very serious academic bullshit that kept me from attending tonight’s game, but I caught the last 7 innings after riding my bicycle up the nice flat path, blah blah blah. Insert your own Chicago/Seattle comparison here.
But I’ll be at the games tomorrow night and Thursday afternoon, with the loved one of The Stranger’s Fearless Leader (I forget his Slog nom de plume, so I’m being discreet, but in Canada he’d be my brother-in-law).
Wednesday will be only my fourth game this year. My record: 0-3. Wins are listed first, for you non-sports-fans (Gurldoggie, where are you? Shoulda been in on Freaky Friday.)
And so, my unlucky presence will ensure that the Cubs will lose, I am sure, just to allow for gloating by said Canuck Bro-in-Law. Nonetheless, I look forward to it: any baseball fan who doesn’t want to watch Ichiro is nuts (my money says he’ll be the first Japanese-born player inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame). And the worst day I ever spent at a ballpark was a great day. But if the Cubs keep not hitting like they didn’t hit tonight, I might not be responsible for my actions.

Don't worry, no one can hit our bullpen.
But seriously, dude, that is one terrible ballclub you have there. You're going to lose 90 games. You don't have any good players. Lou is the most overrated manager in baseball, but Cornelius MacGillicuddy couldn't win with that crew of losers. Your only pitchers are hurt -- permanently, it would appear. Bummer. Almost as bad as us the past few years.
Gutsy baseball, Chicago Fan. 3 back.
It's ok Chicago Fan. You can rest assured there is at least one Cubs fan located here.
I think it's quaint that there are still Cubs fans out there. Quaint like the Geneva Conventions.

(Yeah, I know. Their hitting sucks balls this year, too.)
Yeah, we Cubs fans are bad luck. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if we didn't watch any Cubs games for a season.
You know, if noboby watches the Cubs lose a game, did the Cubs really lose?
That was a hell of a game. I would have given my left nut to be there behind that brick wall cheering on the M's. The only thing better than Wriggley field was my old Veterans stadium back in Philly.
I gotta say we sure struck gold when we got Betancourt. I got his raft made it across the ocean.
I meant, Im glad his raft made it across the ocean. I need stronger coffee. =(
Hargrove outmanaged Lou's saggy ass last night. Not bad for a career AL guy.
SeMe:
It wasn't a raft, it was a cigarette boat. At least that is one of his stories.
Well Chicago Fan, if you being there gives the M's a better chance at winning, have a great time. We need all the help we can get. 8 in a row!
Dude, I know how you feel. The Cards suck this year too. I guess winning The Series last year still kinda takes away the pain. I can't imagine what it would be like to suck for 99 years.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
