The Institution of Marriage

posted by on January 30 at 8:26 AM

Come on now. Could gay people do more harm to marriage than straight people already have?

I'm not sure how "straight" that groom is...

It's like those cheesy teen movies where the kids go to prom and everyone knows the same dance routine to the song that randomly starts playing...

...what are they teaching these kids in gym class these days?

Thanks for the clip, that was pretty funny. =)

i'm totally embarrassed to admit that i know the video choreography... it's michael jackson's thriller... and yes, this is very funny and very scary...

Posted by bijoubaby | January 30, 2007 8:54 AM

Isn't that Donnie Davies in the last row?

Posted by anne | January 30, 2007 8:58 AM

Dan...Doug@1 nailed it...that groom is gay; or at the very least, 13% gay. :-)

The modern American tuxedo, especially when applied to a husky fella, is the ugliest garment in the history of the world. Cary Grant is spinning in his grave.

Oh, bless them! If I were a bridesmaid required to learn a very complicated dance routine, I'd be psyched!

After a million years spent in catering, where I "attended" more weddings than anyone should have to, I thought I had seen it all.

I had not.

btw, for those of you aspiring to marry: Try to find a nice place for your reception. People forget the food once they go to the bathroom, but everyone remembers low-celinged rooms with ceiling fans and window valances. Especially when the wedding party does a floor show.

You're right...if this was a gay wedding, they'd have performed in coordinating outfits

I would have headed for the exit door as soon as the music started.

High five-ing white people!

Posted by impossible prince | January 30, 2007 9:46 AM

That's the kind of wedding reception I'd love to go to!

And yes, this is what we're fighting for.

Pass me a handkerchief -- my eyeballs are bleeding.

i demand this at every wedding i attend from now on.

now, if i can just get invited to that indian thriller guy's wedding...

Posted by gforce | January 30, 2007 10:36 AM

indian thriller guy:
link not working above...

I guess that scene in "13 Going on 30" is accurate. Every 30-year-old in America DOES know the choreography to Thriller.

Posted by Baxter | January 30, 2007 10:41 AM

Oh come on Dan, you'd prefer straight people to do the Chicken Dance or the Boot Scootin' Boogie at their weddings? I think this is a step in the right direction.

Me, I wanna se the Ok Go treadmill dance done by the Bride, groom, best man and maid of honor in full costume. Without anyone getting Isadora Duncan-ed by getting their skirt caught in the gears.

Posted by Schola Cocksucka | January 30, 2007 10:57 AM

That was cool. Except that girl in the blue dress missed the rehearsal.....

Posted by Justin J | January 30, 2007 11:34 AM

Come on, let's be honest- who DOESN'T know the Thriller dance?! You know you love it...

Posted by caitlin! | January 30, 2007 12:09 PM

I'm GAY and I can't even dance half as well as the groom. He totally nailed it! Cheers.

Posted by jurmopa | January 30, 2007 12:18 PM

I liked Donovan McNabb's touchdown version better. It was shorter.

Posted by Mike in MO | January 30, 2007 6:07 PM

That was fantastic. How can you not love Vincent Price spooking up a wedding?

Posted by YLlama | January 30, 2007 8:53 PM

"...Without anyone getting Isadora Duncan-ed by getting their skirt caught in the gears."

a simple ballerina length skirt would be an elegant solution to that potential pitfall. I wish more brides would do that. The full length gown is overrated.

Not that I would know anything about that.

Thank you. That is SO silly, I love it.
