'Kurt' OTHER
'Kurt'

Kurt Cobain once said he'd "rather be dead than cool." You have to wonder what he'd think of his image and influence being interpreted in an exhibition at Seattle Art Museum of 80-some objects—painting, sculpture, collage, photography, and video—dating from the early 1990s to now. Photographer Alice Wheeler, Northwesterner and longtime friend of Kurt, says, "It's an interesting dynamic between the local artists and the international artists. The way people view Kurt locally is so different than people did, and still do, universally." Artists include Wheeler, Elizabeth Peyton, Douglas Gordon, Rodney Graham, Gretchen Bennett, Charles Peterson, and Scott Fife. It's a show not to be missed. (Seattle Art Museum, 1300 First Ave, 654-3100. 10 am–9 pm, $15 suggested donation.)
