Genki Sushi

Genki Sushi is a giant Japanese conveyor-belt-sushi chain, and it's now conveying sushi to your mouth on both Broadway and Lower Queen Anne. It's got a fantastic electric-orange-and-white color scheme, it's super-clean, and the rolls (while heavy on the rice) are consistently decent. (Hint: Order nigiri fresh from your server; try marinated mackerel and halibut with shiso.) And it is so, so unbelievably cheap: The plates stacking up are at most $2 each. Genki says it's "America's family sushi restaurant," but it's really a paradise for students, stoners, and skinflints. Sit and watch a world of sushi go by, grabbing anything and everything you want. This is my favorite lunch-time sushi place! So quick and delish - and really affordable.

Uh...Yeah. Go to Genki Sushi if you want your stomach to express the same emotion as their logo.

Actually @2, based on my two visits, I'd have to say that Genki is really more bland and nondescript than stomach churning.

But, it certainly is cheap, I'll grant it that.

You are correct! We went crazy for Genki when we first went to one years ago in Honolulu. Parking was insane. If you survived that, and the crowds also inside waiting to grab a seat, you were in heaven. My faves were the spicy tuna roll and the negitoro. The lower Queen Anne one has fried calamari to die for. We came back from our Hawaii vacation, with Ed and I both craving a trip to Genki (we didn't make the ones there).

No. Genki Sushi is terrible. The fish isn't good, the rice is bland, and I don't know what you were on when you went to go eat there. I'm sad to see them invade our fair city with their awfulness. How much did they pay you for the Suggest?

@4, Honolulu's is even worse than the ones here because fish for sushi is more expensive in Hawaii. Thus to keep it cheap, the fish is extra nasty. Bleh, just thinking about it is giving me a stomachache.
