That Deeply Religious College Basketball Star Might Not Have Been Performing Oral Sex On that Child

Posted by on Thu, May 17, 2012 at 1:16 PM

Maybe he was whispering the Lord's Prayer into her vagina:

Former University of Kentucky basketball player Michael Porter has been charged with multiple counts of sodomy and sex abuse, accused of having sexual encounters with a minor, a girl he met at a church function, according to court records. Porter played for UK for three seasons, from 2006-09. The business major was well known as being deeply religious and stood out for being one of the few UK players who were married during their college careers.... According to court documents, Porter "gave and received oral sex" on two occasions when the girl was 14. He gave and received oral sex once when the girl was 15 and "subjected the same minor to sexual contact on at least two occasions," the documents said. Porter met the teen "when he was a group leader at a church function," court documents said.

It's not sexual abuse..it's called rape of a child

Based on that last sentence, shouldn't this have been posted under "Youth Pastor Watch"?

But he's a Christian. If he repents that makes it all better. After all, we are all sinners. Right?

Third degree sodomy!!??! Is that worse than first or second, like burns? Or better, like murder...?

Did anyone notice that Legion of Christ spokesmodel and self righteous turd Rev. Thomas D. Williams secretly fathered a child. The Legion's founder, Rev. Marciel Maciel, has, reportedly from the Huffington Post, raped and molested seminarians!!! There is no morality without religion indeed!

It's distressing that the Rev. Thomas D. Williams is kinda hot, like Papa Rat's "hiking" buddy Georg Gänswein. Thank PiV I'm able to go beyond mere appearances.

On second thought this calls for some Old Testament justice: stone the girl.

@1: She was 14.

Skeezy, yes. Deeply immoral, defintely. But "rape of a child"? C'mon, now. I was sexually active at that age and it was absolutely consensual. Yes, yes, he was in a position of power. But to characterize a teenager having sex with a college student as "rape of a child" seems a wee bit overblown.

@8 One word. Sodomy! These are heavy charges...third degree charges!

(still trying to figure out if I've experienced first, second or third degree my self..but that's another story)

Kentucky, like many states, has a provision that if the younger person is 14 or older, and the older person can be up to 5 years older (19) without it being illegal.

So, just saying he was in college does not adequately establish illegality.

@5 Well at least he's not gay.

Why can't these morality types be content with jerking off in their room and being done with it?

What @8 said. What, y'all weren't fooling around Freshman year? Did you really learn to drive before your first kiss? I can't believe we let 16 year olds drive around two ton vehicles but we won't let them sex for another 2 years!

"You couldn't possibly control your own body. We'll help you out and just make it illegal to have sex until you're older. Now, take control of this steering wheel and merge onto the freeway."

So I guess my point is 14 &15 year olds are high schoolers. Think back to high school. Didn't you want someone to go down on you? Weren't your hormones working?

Distressed that none of the commenters so far have noted that the intro to this story is pretty damn funny. "whispering the Lord's Prayer into her vagina" had me giggling uncontrollably for some time. Thanks Dan for the continued assault on religious hypocrisy :)

@8, 10, and 12 - The article Dan linked to says the perv in question is currently 25. And "[T]he alleged sex acts took place when [the accuser] was 14 and 15. According to police reports, the sex acts took place from August 2009... to December 2010."

Meaning that in August 2009 when she was 14, he was, depending on when his birthday falls, 22 or 23. In December 2010 when she was 15, he was 23 or 24. That is not a horny high school girl getting it on with a horny high school guy, that is statutory rape.

I went out with a guy who was 25 when I was 14 - with my mother's consent - to accompany him to a dinner. I totally would have had sex with him, but he had a better head on his shoulders than this dude, or at least more self-control.

I actually knew this guy. I don't really agree that he was "well known for being deeply religious". He came off as a really nice guy, but it was known around campus that he cheated on his then-girlfriend, now-wife at least all throughout his freshman year. I'm still pretty shocked about these allegations, at worst I just thought he was a CPOS.
