Eighty-Five-Year-Old Olive Garden Reviewer Does New York

Posted by on Tue, Mar 13, 2012 at 3:01 PM

Marilyn Hagerty's deadpan review of the new Olive Garden in Grand Forks, Whatever-State-That-Is, is all the rage on the Internet, and now she's doing NYC with a personal blogger-slash-Twitterer. Her post-modern-day scribe, Ryan Babb, has an appropriate tone, if a tenuous grasp on punctuation (kids these days!): "Well its been nothing short of a whirlwind getting into the city..." "Page one meeting at @nytimes w #MarilynHagerty. Big news created here daily."

She also has reservations at Le Bernardin (made for her by one Anthony Bourdain, whoever that may be), and she plans to dine (to use the term loosely) at another Olive Garden with Anderson Cooper, according to Eater.com.

When I first glanced at that headline I thought it said something about "Eighty-five-year-old Golden Retriever Dies in New York."

So.. nothing important happening in the world?

Even as a story of brevity from the heaviness of recent events, it's still a "....so what?" non-story.

Good for her. Keep it up. But why the hell are media personalities such as Bourdain and Cooper (of the same quality and character) making this a story?

makes me want to read a book....
