Today in the Apocalypse

Here comes the end of the world:

Owen Wilson has signed on to voice the rascally Great Dane "Marmaduke," Fox and New Regency's adaptation of the long-running comic strip.

Wilson's boarding is the last piece of the puzzle for the live-action/CG movie, which has shades of Fox's surprise smash "Marley & Me" and follows a family named the Winslows who move from Kansas to Orange County with their dog Marmaduke, a slobbery pooch who creates chaos wherever he goes.

I predict that this movie will make the Garfield movie look like Blue Velvet in comparison. In other news, Owen Wilson really needs a lot of money for some reason.

David Cross is making a second Alvin & The Chipmunks movie, too.

Hey, he helped ruin Marley & Me, why not help ruin one of the other iconic dog-based films made out of other meda?

Jason, I may actually watch that one if David Cross is in it. I can't wait for the Arrested Development movie much longer. I may crack just to see new David Cross material. God help me.

@2: Well, hopefully Marmaduke will also die of the farts in this film.

If, during the filming, they find Owen Wilson dead of an overdose of diazepam, it will be attributed to the stress of inhabiting Marmaduke.

Does Ellen DeGeneres, I mean "Owen Wilson", make enough money off her daytime show already?

That's what I want to see: a talking CGI dog speaking in Owen Wilson's self-satisfied, smirking voice.

I think this is the perfect role for Owen Wilson. Matches his talents exactly!

The Blue Velvet comment got me thinking: How about a Family Circus movie directed by David Lynch?

Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller should do "The Katzenjammer Kids."

I thought we all agreed that the apocalypse happened back when they released the sequel to the Scooby-Doo movie.
