Renowned Lebanese improvisational trumpeter Mazen Kerbaj makes a rare Seattle appearance tonight at the Royal Room, playing with the Seattle 4 (cellist and Stranger Music Genius Lori Goldston, baritone saxophonist Paul Hoskin, percussionist Greg Campbell, and trumpeter Greg Kelley). Kerbaj also played every night of last week's Seattle Improvised Music Festival.

Kerbaj's occasional bandmate and Seattle/Cairo musician/label owner Alan Bishop says that Kerbaj's "solo show is based on his unique trumpet playing. He is also part of 'A' Trio (with Raed Yassin & Sharif Senhaoui) and I am playing on their new record coming sometime in 2015 on Annihaya label in Beirut. The three... basically invented the modern (don't think there ever WAS one before?) Lebanese experimental music scene 10 years ago."

The show starts at 8 pm, is all ages, and free, although donations are recommended. More info here.
